Manado: P-38's sweep over Manado from Namlea. They score 4:1 over the numerically superior Tojo CAP. Probably the B-24's that were moved up to Saumlaki can attack tomorrow. Washington is on her way to bombard at night, probably night of 11/12 depending on refueling of DD's. That would put the air drop on Sidate for the 12th, most likely.

Not much else happened. Some ASW skirmishing in the Sundas, a couple of USN sub attacks in East China and South China Seas.

What are all these AKL's and AK's doing around Swatow (SE China coast)? The sub force is intercepting groups like this almost every day.

Presumably they are moving something.

Oil in barrels? Suppries? From where to where? Could they really be that low on TK's? The main islands dont need resources in Scenario 2 do they? Pretend I didn't read the manual or play as the empire.

Bloody inscrutable little yellow baaahstards.

In any event, the East China and South Cina Seas seem to be the happy hunting grounds...as well as the Sulu Sea and the Eastern coast of Mindanao. The S boats at Dutch Harbor have been a total waste of fuel. Ditto the patrols off Palembang, Truk, the Solomons. Some utitlity of subs in the defensive role at Port Hedrand but not much.

Re: those xAKLs near Swatow: Most of them have a speed of 12 kts which means they move three hexes per phase. Hong Kong is four hexes from Swatow but if they go one hex further out to see [rather than through the Swatow hex], it is six hexes to the one off Swatow. Subs are much more likely to intercept if they are in the same hex with a TF at the end of its movement as opposed to the TF passing through the sub's hex.

Swatow has no resources stored. Hong Kong and Canton have lots. I don't know for certain about Japan's resource needs but I think it needs more than it has on home turf. Hong Kong is also the logical place to inject supplies into the South China area.

I actually have one in the master bath. Gold handles and everything. It looks like something out of one of Saddam's palaces. I think the builder thought he could charge more money if he put one in. After a terribly aversive experience involving overly hot water and...well...you get the idea, I can't even look at one without getting the shakes.

I am only able to talk about it after I got upped to the maximum dose of fluoxetine. Also, I had to drop that into to Islam lecture series after we had the hygeine talk.

I'm looking into Bokonism now.

Whats a master bath? Mrs Zuluhour explained to me upon purchase of the new supreme HQ that there was only a his and hers bathroom. Hers was ajoining the queen suite and mine was annexed to the garage. I'm glad we went for the attached garage!

So I take SG and the little girls out to Creverand National Forest, "The Land of Many Uses" (..mostly pot growing) for a hike. The sign on the trailhead warns of rattlers and mountian lions. I happen to know they aren't bluffing so SG is assigned point and I will bring up the van. 300 yds in SG and the littlest one barely miss stepping on a coiled up rattler. So much for point duties, eh?

There is much screaming and wailing but we decide to push on. I take point and SG is assinged the job of scanning the bushes for mountian lion ambushes. We make it without further attack and manage to skirt about 40 acres of poison oak. It was a blast.

On the way back down the road a motorcyclist hits a car and is ejected, killing him (every third vehicle is a motorcycle because it is an awesome mountain ride). The road is blocked so we have to detour to Elsinore and take the freeway (an hour detour). Lake Elsiniore is perhaps the ugliest place on the planet. EVERYONE there gets a government check. I am not kidding.

We pass a particularly apt business sign. It reads.

Preferred Utility Services

At the top im 3 foot letters is reads:

PUS

Evidently they did not hire a marketing firm.

Washington should be able to bombard Manado tonight, then two more sweeps in the AM, another B-24 raid, then P-40K LRCAP over Sidate and then 503rd PIR gets the order to drop on Sidate. LCT's and LST's and paddleboats assembling at Ternate will land the following day. This will consist of some beachmasters, a Bn of Stuarts and a couole of coy of 145th Infantry Regt.

Mountain lions attack from the rear. Of course you knew that as you took the van, which is the front (short for vanguard). Clever wordplay - bravo! You had the Jrs acting as puma bait thinking they were looking for snakes.

Sorong: Most of three USMC regiments, a bn of Stuarts and combat engineers are ashore without any shippinmg losses. JJ garrison still potent because their arty fire still inflicting some casualties. They will require some softening up by air while the ground troop srest up.

From the Tojo line? Probably the IIc, but not for some time from now in WWII(c). They could, of course, upgrade away from the Tojo pathway to other 1e fighter airframes. But until the deployment of the Frank, the IJAAF doesn't have much choice in the matter.
