ALSP;

Can you post the air losses for the day? I'm still at work for 5 or 6 hrs and am curious to see what happened to the Bettys and Kates.

I suggested it at the time.

The management reserves the right to be infallible. Has anyone else invaded the Philippines and Burma in March 1943? I think not.

A revisit, Your Infalliblenesses. I just did it in a PBM and the squadrons bought back were quoted as arriving in "30 to 180 days".

Not to be confused with whorey clap which is the by-product of a night in a Calcutta knocking-shop.

First it is herpes and then whorey clap.

Never had a dose of the clap. I hear the scablifters umbrella was quite painful.

Couldn't a faithful rendition of that still be 'holey clap'?

Herpes not as badly off as some would wish.

Umm ... drag reducing holes notwithstanding, you might want to reconsider the mission speed setting until the crew have time to pound oily rags into all the glands where the fittings pass through the bulkheads. And this has nothing to do with stopping whorey clap either!

Month's vacation in Sunny Arizona + 8 days driving time.
Missed being able to kibbitz here. It was worth it for the sandal tan though!

I appologize to no one for a lack of photos of Lord Sprior as that sort of thing is frowned upon in the kingdom.

Great catch on the cruise speed vs. mission speed regarding the "Herpies" ...

We did have very mild weather this year during the winter! You got out just in time as Phoenix hits the 90's this week!

I do want to go on record that despite rumors of Arizona being a backwards state in the Western region .. we do have Starbucks and Internet

We had mild in terms of snow, but a string of record low temps... 'course I don't live down where folks go stir crazy from heat in the summer!

No doubt about it. Hermes can take more punishment than the USN CVE's which are floating gas tanks. Even with 3 "up the chuff" she can make 11 kts.

I think that is even FASTER than her speed before battle. Evidently the water flows in one hole and out the other, therby reducing drag.

wow! Is it possible the barnacles acted as a torpedo blister or some kind of ablative armor? Sorry, I mean armour. This would also explain the recent increase in speed. Can you do me a favor and get someone to put a level gauge on the front end of the flight deck and tell me what it reads?

Would they be blistering barnacles then? Or is that too Belgian?

I did wonder but then my grandmother's pic, taken in 1930's Calcutta, predates it so I think the lovely Marilyn might have nicked the idea.

One time my brother (the evil one) took his son and my two nephews and their friend out for steaks. His son was 21, the other thre were 18-19.

Brother: You guys want beers?

Thirsty young men: Yeah!

Brother: You got ID's?

Thirsty young men: Yeah!

They call over the waiter. Of course, he has to card them. It turns out they have "lost" copies of the oldest's driver's license. He had purposely been reporting them lost for the previous two years, then going down to the DMV to get replacements so that his cousins and friend could use them WHEN he truned 21. Quite a clever and resourceful plan, years in the making. Worthy of Carlos the Jackal or something....except...they all had the same birthday and name..and the picture is roughly the same as well.

It turns out that wiaters are trained to memorize the crucial year on the card indicating 21 and then check the month. They purposely each asked him about 10 questions about the beer selection before they ordered to flood his short term memory...AND IT WORKED!

Sometmes it only takes a medium quality pran executed with bravado...which brings us back to the game.

Planning for D-Day+1 Central Luzon. We didn't have enough surface firepower to guard the carriers and the anphibious groups so I sent the carriers West of Luzon to stay out of land based Val range and thin down the escorts for the Bettys...and to engage any carriers that might be about. Waiting a day for more air bombardments and to see how the attack on Clark went would have been helpful but the IJA is already on the move to the SE from Manira and Clark.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
