Why send the CA back to Ceylon? It should be able to withdraw from Sydney.

Also, there is a RN CA at Sydney that is fully patched up but she is supposed to go back to the Admiralty in 25 days. What do you want to do? She can likely make it to Ceylon without a DD escort taking the southerly route.

Can't get to turn until after 19:00 PST

Ummmm. I'm gonna go with a good suppry of Emperor Brand Kool-Aide, rots of trees for the Ritter Yerrow Baahstards AND a severe shortage of Parchesi boards among the Arries.

Not to mention 50-60% disablement amnong the intantry regiments.

Well, it is a RN ship. ALSP might want to keep her with a penalty for some crucial task. Plus, I think I broke her somehow. Can't remember exactly.

I'll give you the terrain bonus, but there's no fort, experience or (curiously) Japanese preparation bonus. Yet they've been there getting bashed on for what-two months now? You'd think they'd prep for Davao and make it 'fully prepped', much as-I'm sure-the Allies are now.

If your guys have been on Davao for a couple months now, are they still 50-60% disabled? Thoughts as to why? What's your HQ support looking like there?

They have no HQ support on Mindanao, save for a few Air HQ at Cagayan. I dont think it's been "a couple of months" but they have been resting for a week or so.

MacArthur (SWPAC) is in a luxury suite aboard an APA which just passed Horn Is. 6th Army HQ just debarked at Manado. SOUPAC is in Darwin.

I Amphib HQ is prepping for Northern Luzon.

The pace of operations has required that we push stuff forward quickly. In some place the logistical tail is still wagging behind. If we are going to take a base in Northern Luzon and Batan Is. by the end of April we need to keep going. No time for R&R.

Man in fine linen slacks: Right, so what do you think? Patio area under the palms here, couple of overhead fans, kitchen over there?

Hirsute man: Where is the dance area?

Man in fine linen slacks: Dance area? Yossarian, you crazy SOB, I sold that idea to Idi. This is a restaurant-bar notion.

Hirsute man: Restaurant? Why you crazy SOB, You don't know how to cook.

Man in fine linen slacks: Aha, but I thought of that. We just hire lots of attractive young waitresses with large breasts in low-cut tops.

Hirsute man: I suppose that could work, but what about the girls? Idi has all the Tannanese.

Man in fine linen slacks: I said attractive. We go local. I've got some candidates lined up for interviews. You want to come help? I could use a second pair of..eyes.

Hirsute man: If I must.

Man in fine linen slacks: War is Hell, Yossarian. War is Hell.

I looked back. The sinking on the AK Malancha last night took out 31 M4 Shermans and some trucks. Bummer about the Shermans. They were the first ones in theater. The Men From Malancha were apparently OK.

This business of trying to unload tanks from regular AK's across the beach is just painful. We need more LST's. The AKA's in June will help too.

Robinson County in North Carolina :

"...about one girl aged 15 to 19 became pregnant every day in Robeson County ¡X a rate of about 69 per 1,000 girls, almost 58 percent higher than the state rate of 43.8." (http://www.robesonian.com/view/full_story/20995488/article-Robeson-ranks-high-in-teen-pregnancies?instance=commented)

Although soceity might think who needs a couple to care for a child in the age of free love ...

United States infant mortality rate is
7.0 infant deaths per 1,000 live births

„h North Carolina infant mortality rate is
8.5 infant deaths per 1,000 live births

„h Robeson County is 14.6 infant deaths
per 1,000 live births

Infant mortality rates are 1.8 times
higher for infants of unmarried
mothers than for married mothers

„h Unmarried mothers are less likely
to obtain prenatal care and more
likely to have a low birth-weight
baby

„h Single mothers were twice as
likely as married mothers to
experience depression

Of course free is not free .. the cost shifted to the other parts of society ..

Those low weight "premie" neonates average about 100 days in the NICU forget the long term chronic care ..

But I don't do Peds .. I leave that up to the Cap ..

Ok back to the IJN whooping up on the USN ...

Oddly, there does not seem to be any movement of the substantial LYB forces at Shwebo or Myitkynia. If the large Indian force moving SW from Kalmeyo crosses the Irrawaddy and finds an empty hex in about 10 d or so, then Myitkynia will quickly become untenable. By then, the Chindits should cut the rail line as well.

I do think they mean to form a line along the Irrawaddy near Prome, to include the hex SW of Prome where the rail lien crosses.

Dry Dock Management:

Cape Town (80K tons): Ramilles (2-3 months) Can't accomodate any more large ships after Revenge arrives in a week or so. Revenge also needs about 3 mos.

Colombo (40K tons): Pennsylvania (5+ mos) You could take Pennsylvania out of drydock, leave her at pierside to repair system damage and put either PoW or Victorious in dry dock. Victorious could go to Sydney but that seems very dangerous. As PoW can make 25 kts, probably best to send her to Eastern US and let Victorious repair at Colombo. Alternatively, you could send PoW to Cape Town and bump one of the other BB's out of line.

Sydney (30K tons): Can be used for the USN CA's and CL's and DD's and subs and for CVE upgrades.

Bombay (20K tons): Hermes can fit.

Aden (20K tons): Cornwall maybe.

Pearl (100K tons): 3 US BB's (6-10 mos) Fagettaboutit

Western US: US BB's

Auckland: US Crusiers and DD's

Yes, but first Pennsylvania has to repair her 44% system damage because some, idiot staff flunkie let her run out of gas on the way to Cape Town. She detoured North, hit 3 icebergs due to Global Cooling and was attacked by a 100 foot long squid.

OK, just thought of a better solution for PoW as the Med isn't open yet.

Send PoW to Cape Town and we can bump Ramilles out of drydock and send her to the Eastern US.

I don't mind the Roma influence with the castanettes, it's just that I couldn't wrap my mind around the idea of MEN playing the castanette.

Also, casting Javier Bardem as Don Quixote was a BIG mistake.

************Aboard USS S-18, 120 nm W of Eureka, Calif., April 1, 1943(c)**************

Cpt. Vaughn stands topside with a megaphone. The boat has been out of fuel since she ran short in the Gulf of Alaska nearly 1 month ago. The crew have been towing her with oar power from rubber rafts since then. A kindly Humpback named &@*#(#@ had helped them for nearly a day, the tow rope held in her mouth, but she was with calf and had to swim on. The entire battery compartment is awash in seawater and, of course, all the pumps are shot so the captain has taken to ordering the crew about the boat to maintain trim.

Captain Vaughn: STROKE! STROKE! STROKE! <15 strokes a minute in grueling four hour ****s. A wave approaches the boat from astern. The captain yells down from the sail> OK BOYS! HERE COMES ONE. EVERYONE RUN AFT............NOW! <The crest reaches the boat> OK, EVERYONE FORWARD..........NOW!

XO: Have you thought about scuttling her sir? I think we could get enough provisions aboard the boats to make Eurkea.

Captain Vaughn: Unthinkable. She is a grand old boat and she will have a long and dignified service after this.

XO: What do they plan to do with her, sir?

Captain Vaughn: Fish and chips restaurant, I think. STROKE! STROKE!.............
