I'll help you with the Back Ladder management, if you like. Judging from the severe reduction in players from the first round (due to death, dismemberment, matrimony, boredom, etc.) There really aren't that many players left. :D
Anyone who wants to continue in the World Cup, please let me know. Your only requirement is you must have lost the first round game.
I would also think that you must have actually PLAYED that first round game. (Not just disappeared off the boards for a few weeks forcing a default)
So...

Yes Lars, I remember our game, we fought to a draw, and it took took awhile for my head to stop spinning due to your massive Soviet arty barrage's !!! ;)

That was quite a fight... artillery of all calibres turned that central town into a pile of rubble, yet still both sides were able to attack and counterattack repeatedly. I fielded a btn of 76,2mm guns there , these sure deliver a huge volume of fire! Good luck fighting Rokondo, he´s a very skilled player and taught me a thing or two, just like you did in the No Cold War league battle and thereafter.;)

Well, here it is just after 8-31-02 and you and I are the only ones that have any interest in the double elimination side of the WC tourney. I guess it was a pointless effort to try. I really thought there would be more interest. Oh well. Perhaps next time. Ciao.

LOL :D Rokondo, you're very funny. LOL
If we both win round #2 (I'm too humble to say that Scharfschutze is done for after only 8 turns ;) ) but don't get matched up in round #3, we may have to play a "preliminary" PBEM WC championship match.
What's your country of choice so I can start having nightmares already?

I also play mostly the US side, it's humbleing to play the Germans against the US in late 44,( I'm doing that now, not a pretty picture) once the US gets Pershing's they are very hard to beat. Play a game than swap sides and play again ? Taking nothing away from Rokono, he's an EXCELLENT player, but I have to agree with Capt. Pixel, It wouldn't be a very balanced game unless you play before '44

Hmmm... are you guys really doing something?
I mean, there are many many threads in AAR/DAR forum which date back to July or something (now it's September 10th here in Great Northern Woods of Finland), and I'm still not getting a clean picture. Could someone please keep an eye out of this thing, which began as "PBEM World Cup 2002" and resulted as "I want the US! Or no, gimme the Gerries"?
I do not think I'm the only one who is interested in the events on these matches. Try to keep us informed, please? Thank you.
I apoligize for not bieng able to do the DAR's, I have been and will be for the next two weeks working long hours, but to put it in a nut shell Rokondo,( US ) VS. BigBill ( German) playing a late '45 meeting engagement
From the beginning of the game he was unstopable. The US armor force's out shot my hapless German panzers every turn.
last turn in an act of desperation I placed 4 Nashhorn and 4 Jagdpanthers on hills opposite his line of advance waiting for him to show.
Without sending any decoy vehicles ( recon ;) ) first, he procieded over the hill with his Pershings
The German Panzers couldn't hit squat with opportunity and counter fire, the Pershings return fire was on the money, say goodbye to my remaining armor!
One interesting point is how little Arty. Rokondo used to basicly walk through the German force's.
The German is now fighting a delaying action but the outcome of this game is decided. :)

The battle between Ironfist and Boro ended with Boro as champion. An AAR was listed atleast a month or two ago. Never Heard anything back from World cup players. So If figured I was knocked out. The game was a draw I beleave with Boro haveing the greater points. You may want to comfirm this with him. It's been awhile since I've heard from him. I made the fatal misstake of allowing air units. but looking forward to the rematch....
