Hi,
after following your great communty for quite a while, I need to break radio silence and Stop playing for a couple of minutes

First of all: Thanks for the greatest Game ever I have played (it topped WitP) and the friendly and very helpful Community

The Problem:
I am in January 43

But some units don't take replacements.

Everytime a device upgrades and the the device number is not up to strength, it stops to draw replacements. I.e. 2/4 Armoured Regiment in Sidney had more or less:

4x Hvy Imp AFV
1x Hvy Imp AFV
3x Hvy Imp AFV
8x lgt Imp AFV

It upgraded to Grands and Stuart:

4x M3 Grant/Lee
1x M3 Grant/Lee
3x M3 Grant/Lee
8x Stuart I

Despite replacements on it only draws mot. support till (40 according TOE)
and stopped for 80 turns to draw Tanks out of the pool with is full of M3s and Mathildas II and whatever it wants. (more than enough for every unit that can upgrade it/ have it in the original TOE)

Attached is a savegame. I have renamed it from wpae11.pws to .txt

I Started the Game under vanilla WitP AE and upgraded it as the patches came, playing now under 10.97.

BUT I tweaked Scen 1 in the Editor (mostly A/c prod and PP) Can this be the reason for the Problem?

The new Atachment should work now.

Thanks in advance for help

LCU equipment trickles through 1 or 2 a turn to each unit requiring them if there's enough to feed all unit. Even if you turn off replacement to all other units you still only receive a few per turn which is not good. Given a well stocked base, a HQ in range you would think you could fill out a unit quickly but thats not how it works. It's pain.

If the TOE changes then it is quite likely you would have to start all over again. AsI've found out TOE will only upgrade if the unit is at rest so you can prevent this from happening. But TOEs is another story.

Thanks,

A Few were good but nothing for at least 60 turns??
I know also from Witp its a pain to wait a unit is comletly full, but I think in this case there is something wrong.

It starts again to draw when the TOE upgrades i.e. an Ind Ind unit changes the TOE device from Ind Inf to Ind Inf 42 then it will draw this device again

I have the Aus Arm Unit for 100 turns with replacements in at Sidney with almost 1.000.000 supplies and it just draws nothing.

Same in PH with 27th Inf Div:
after it upgraded the USA Rifle Sqd to USA 42 Sqd it just stoped drawing this upgraded device again for at least 30 turns. Theay all draw everything exept upgraded devices.

i.E. I lost some M3 Stuarts of a USMC Tank Bn, after it arrived in PH an replacemnets on, it took only the mot support, and upgraded the M2A4 (which were lost) to M3 and afterwards took no further replaycements.

Same with Indian, NZ and Canadian troops, BFs etc.

It seems only that only the upgraded devices are effected.

I am just make a test with much more replacements produced (i.e. Tanks Sqd etc with max prod rate) again nothing happens
After 3 turns ca. 1400 Valnentine III in pool but no replacements when TOE says Imp. Hvy AVF (Ind units).

alway good leaders (admin), HQ in range, big base and much supplies.

I'm still missing something?

Thanks again for our answer

AS you see on the pic it stopped.

To give another example:

If i have an indian mtn. Gun Rgt. somedays it is in combat looses say 5 guns.
After the fighting I send it to a base and toggle replacements on.
If it upgrades the reminding 11 guns to 3.7" jungle gun it will never come back to strength even if enough for every TOE jungle gun on the map and for potential upgrading guns are avalible (say 10.000).

I made a test with over 10.000 jungle guns in the pool:

the Rgt will never take replacements of the upgraded item again over lots of turns. Only not upgradable items will take replacements i.e. support.

I also started a new game with a much higher replacement rate and I found the same thing.

Is this perhaps WAD?
I just want to know it

Could you add the save as a .zip?
The TXT format is causing me problems.

Here we go.
I hope at least. I changed the wpae006.pws to wpae006.zip

Thanks for your help. You can find it in almost every unit. I recommend Burma, Sidney, 27th Inf Div Townsville.

BigJ - is the problem relevant in all games or just in this particular one?

That might be a majority of PBEMs, if I and my various PBEM partners are a representative sample. I don't recall any game (against perhaps 7 or 8) different opponents that started with replacements on, although I can't swear I'm not forgetting one.

BigJ, any workaround for this except sending a save to you?

I'm thinking about something like turning replacements on for a turn and then off again.

Hey Bigj, I'm interested in this as well. Is it safe to start a game with replacements turned off or will they always have this problem ?

So I have downloaded both save files and looked at them.  I suppose I don't understand what you changed BigJ?  Can anyone explain if this is actually a problem or a setting issue on a unit - if it's a setting issue - how do we work around this?

It's an ordinary save from the middle of his game so it can't be of any help to us.

Well, it is a big problem then as the Japanese have hit North Oz and I won't have much in the way of tanks to stop them......

Is this a generic problem for the game, or specific to certain units on one side or the other?

BigJ62 I believe that the vast majority of WITP veterans have started their PBEMs with replacements turned off, because that was the smart way to handle it in WITP. If AE has changed this, none of us ever knew, so there may be a lot of games that are now not WAD.

Argh. My intention was to start with replacements off, then turn them on for select units. I hope I don't have to start another game :(

I am up to 6/43 in my PBEM and I frankly dont think this has affected me...yet. Oz was invaded and I now have them cornered in Darwin. US forces seem to be doing well.

it surely resolves itselve, the only question is when. Seems like a bigger problem for the fast paced PBEMs, do a couple of turns a day and wait 4 months for the patch and you will have played more than a year ingame time without any replacements. This would definetely kill a PBEM.
