WOW. This is fantastic. I just downloaded PG Forever and was playing in less than 5 minutes. Everything looks and sounds great. Thanks Juggalo.

This is great, because that stupid Panzer General Card Game for Consoles was a joke....nice to see a new game based on the REAL Panzer General.

Looks good. Sounds like a ground up project so no feeling guilty about "stealing".

First spin-off which recaptures the spirit of original PG for me, and it works with Win 7x64 on widescreen. This game beats some 'entry-level' Matrix titles hands down in terms of fun and UI design. Well worth to charge money for it, considering there wouldn't be any legal issues.

Bloody wonderful. Now, it might be rock paper sissors, but devs could take a leaf out of Panzer Generals book...both games in there for less than 50MB!! And a kick ass AI...no leadin with arty units

[A] The legal status of my remake is similar to status of most other remakes out there. I don't have an official permission from Ubisoft to copy their game, and I doubt I could obtain such a permission. So, de jure my work is illegal.

This is what I was afraid of, and the reason I stayed clear away from it so far.

You're welcome fellas....I'm sure alot of you (myself included), cut their teeth on digital wargaming with this old gem.

Hell, I even remember I almost threw away 700 bucks on one of those crappy Panasonic 3DOs back in the day just to play it!

Also on that site, check out the AdlerKorps forum for a PG2 download that comes complete with the original game, plus dozens of custom campaigns and a data file of like 3500 units! 1.4 GB download though....

Good gaming,
ChadG

It has been so long now, I may just have to re-read the manual again...

I couldn't get my original PG CD to work with vista right.  Went through hell with DosBox and still it never worked too well.

One thing I'd do is use the Cheat Key to increase the number of turns.. that's the one problem, not enough turns to complete the objectives!!

Yes! That's the only complaint I had against PG, is the limited number of turns. Is there a cheat key in this version that allows more turns?

Ah heck, I've downloaded it and I'll find out for myself.

There's a cheat code doc in the doc folder.. I consider that one really not cheating.. since it's hard to get to the objectives even if there was no opposition in that amount of turns!!

But I think it's like Ctrl-Alt-Shift-C.. then you just type in turns space the number you want to add.... again.. think that's what I put. there's a doc for it in the docs folder...

but that was one of the only things I didn't like about the original.. that and I think if a city get's taken, you lost automatically (without getting a chance to take it again).. or maybe I'm thinking of another game..

I dont really like using cheat codes, but I may have to give in this time... I can take one of the objectives in the time alloted but I just can't fathom how to capture them both.....

My memory is fuzzy about the original game, but I seem to remember achieving Minor or Major victorys.. Or was that in SPWAW?

The good thing about Old age is that as yer memory fades, things long forgotten become new again

I am off to get my ares kicked again..

Cheers

No your mind is not fuzzy, there were minor/major victories in the original PG....Major victories netted you additional unit slots for your core army....

My memory may be failing too, but IIRC, you only got the extra core-unit 10% of the time.  And even then the TYPE of unit used to be a proto-type given on a random selection.

I recall there were some "in-game" footages of the opposing forces shooting at each other, you could turn this off and on, if I recall correctly... It was as if you were looking through binoculars. Can't find this anymore though? Has this been removed?

According to the FAQ's ingame footage is not added yet.

btw. has anyone else a hard stand to beat the first campaign scenario (Poland)? In the original Panzer General one could purchase Stukas to destroy opposing artillery.

Ah thanks, that's what you get from not reading the FAQ's
And if I remember correctly the first scenario was difficult, your units have almost no experience. Allthough on the forum I've read some things about the new release being a tad too difficult... that might be too because of lack of experience. I remember the first scenario playing quite a few times to achieve all of the objectives. (or read reloads).
Gosh, even the music is the same :-) Someone give me a handkerchief, I'm feeling emotional LOL

Fantastic, I enjoy replaying PG and AG on a regular basis and this makes it so much easier as it works with windows 7!
