I want to offer this. I think the best way to handle Trolls is to ignore them. They are seeking the response... any response. Anyone who has raised kids, especially teenagers should be able to relate to this. If they get no response from bad behavior then bad behavior is not rewarded. Some useful things to remember - Disagreement is not disprespect.
- Do not have a distorted sense of entitlement about the forum. Matrix provides the space for a community of common interest to exist. It is not a place to be a demanding customer.
- Do not respond to Trolls.
- Exercise emotional control when reading a Troll.
- The Troll is the one with the problem, don't let it become yours.
- If the Troll upsets you, hit the green button.
- If you think the Troll has crossed the line, send a note to Joe.
- If you must respond to a Troll, do not quote him. The people who hit the green button don't want to read him.
Even though I have spent a significant portion of my adult life adopting, raising, and mentoring troubled teens, I still have to remind myself of these things. I hope that JWE has a change of heart at the end of his ban and comes back. I value his knowledge and his wit.

I have been inputting my orders for the campaign game first turn since July 4, 2009. I'm getting close. In another month or two, I might be able to run the turn!
