It helps. I'm an OLD gamer period. Still have over 400 board games of various types. Wargames and space exploration/resource collecting/combat.

It's not so much for me as I have a bevy of Grandkids now that are looking to start gaming. From ages 10-13. DW might be just the thing for them.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Good Hunting.

MR

It is like World in Flames with one less X.

3X: eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate.

I love Twilight Imperium. Takes forever to play (setup alone always seems to take a good hour or two), but it's a ton of fun!

Same! Especially if you play with the types of people who play for the love of 4X games and don't really care about winning as quick as possible :) Typical game with our group takes 19-23 hours.. with good night sleep in the middle of course :D

Another question(s) :
1. Is ship scrapping/mothballing possible?
2. Can we see data of one planet from DW? Tried that in video, but was unable to do so... maybe some big screenshot of the planetary screen
3. Planets are 2D models (static pictures) or 3D models that rotate?
4. Do we have brown dwarfs?
5. Can we build some mega big mammoth ships (like SW Death star or Borg cubes).
6. Binary and trinary star systems? Are they in the game?
7. Hope that I will like this game like I like Elite/Frontier series

Elite II was the last of what I guess you guys call 4X space games I've played. That was a while back.

Good Hunting.

But Elite isnt 4x space.
Look here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4x
4x must be a strategy and Elite wasnt strategy if I am correct. More like space ship simulator(I dont played then  I dont know). Correct me if i wrong.

Yes, you can retire ships. You can also retrofit them to a new design.

More videos are coming soon. The colonies screen is shown in the Game Controls video (around 5min mark).

Planets are 2D. No rotation, just orbital movement.

4. Do we have brown dwarfs?

Star types: yellow main sequence, red giant, white dwarf, neutron, black holes.

Yes

No

I can live with all that... but too bad there are no binary and trinary systems (might be some interesting situations)... and seems to be very few star types ,which is bad, but overall the game seems to be excellent, and I can't wait for it!
sorry for this little criticism (but as I'e said, havent played game yet, so I'm not qualified to criticize )
