Bearing in mind that one's definition of "old" often varies, I still play the following games:

Lords of the Realm 2
Birth of the Federation
Shogun Total War
Klingon Academy
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Medieval Total War

I remember when CC1 popped up in PCgamer as ASL on the PC. Then Atomic and AH started having issues..and now AH is owned by a card company..how things go and Atomic is currently knows what.

I would love to get Aces of Deep and Microprose's 1st B-17 sim(the 3.5 flop one, not the aweful sequal they tried) plus Red Baron II, 1942 PAW Gold and European Air War up and running, but my flight sims days as well as my FPS days are behind me.

Now it's Strat or Tact, and Close Combat is my RTS level...almost 3X and I returned to Tabletop wargaming this year...but I play HPS games on my Laptop while waiting for my turns.

A couple RPG I'd like to play over again (SOMEDAY), for nostalgia reasons would be the Ultima Underworld series, and CLOUDS OF XEEN!

*ack* The dilemma of a retro-gamer when asked this question!

A lot of 80's SSI games (Fighter Command to Computer Ambush to Computer Air Combat to USAAF to [ad infinitum]). Guess I should throw in Soldiers at War, Flight Commander 2, Achtung Spitfire, Over The Reich, Empire Deluxe (it is still addicting!). ETC, ETC... Heck, it might be easier to list the old games I don't play (primarily really old flight sims like Red Baron I & Their Finest Hour don't get played here anymore).

I still have Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory installed on my PC, and play a random battle when I've got some time to kill.

I mostly play old games that I have missed in the 80/90s. There are very few old games that I replay. Bertrayal at krondor and ultima underworld 1 and 2 comes to mind.

Every now and then I'll fire up HOI-1 with The Great War mod, one of the  V4V series in the DosBox or X-Com UFO Defense.  There are remarkably few new titles out there that pique my interest.

With the exception of Planescape Torment (and that only because it runs nicely on my netbook), none. There are too many new games competing for my time. I play several 'old' Matrix titles, at least in terms of original release date, from time to time but all are still on the catalogue.

The "V for Victory" and "World at War" we-move series of games by Atomic/Avalon Hill.
They all still interest me. Too bad no one is interested in updating them to current standards.
I can't seem to run "America Invades" anymore though as the game won't recognize the cd-rom in my cd-rom drive anymore.
Ah well............

Rob.

Not many are worth playing for a long time. But:

War in Russia
SPWAW
Panzer General
SPWW2
Civ 2(yet I do play 4 and can't wait for 5)
HOMM II and III.

THat's it.

I do love playing a couple old boardgames:
Squad Leader
Panzer Blitz
ASL

Hi Obsolete (and others if interested),

If you head over to www.gog.com (Good Old Games), you can buy quite a few old games ready configured for today's operating systems and fully tested on Windows.

I see you are a big Might and Magic fan, well they have the entire series for $9.99 DRM free. It's a legit site, Activision have just come on board with them so they are publishing their back catalog at the moment.

And for D.Ilse, they released the Red Baron collection a couple of months ago (I and II).

I've bought heaps of games through them and they are very good (everything is DRM free) and 100% legitimate.

Cheers

Mark

Amen to you, DIIse, all those were my first foraws into the pc gaming world.
I would add for board games, I still set up SPI's Global War, with some rules changes. It works...well, it's nostalgic.

Well, I already have the entire series here, and while there are problems with Vista, they do run through DoS Box pretty good :P

I did come across a collection of older wargames all bundled together for dirt cheap prices on Amazon, etc.  I assumed it was obviously another warez peddler so I moved on, but perhaps I should take another look.

Hi,

They are definitely legit. There has actually been a few articles written about them in the computer press recently about how they are filling a niche in the market. A couple of the big publishers, like Activision for example, are on board with them. Recently from Activision they have released the entire Gabriel Knight series along with Arcanum and a few others.

If you like Might and Migic you might also want to have a look at the Realms of Arcania Series which they also sell.

As far as wargames go, they have a few such as Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord and Strategic Command.

They don't use any form of DRM so I like to support them (just like Matrix) for putting the honest gamer first.

Cheers

Mark
