Has anyone considered this? Just curious. It would be nice to see one. Ships would then never have to leave the map!

Hmm, working on the map of Europe and it's very hard.
Map of the world can not imagine ...

I think for the desert and lot of sea it is just copy and paste or am i wrong?

I don't think you could do a world map for a game like this. The map of the Mediterranean and Atlantic would be rather difficult let alone the world.

For Mediterranean is possible to do a Dili type almost real distance projection :) http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2243809 now for whole World cheating would be needed but i think a projection centered in Pacific and then getting real distances to main ports outside it is possible even if it will look awkward .
