With the apparant success of Fields of Glory...I'd love to see Flames of War or Combat Commander or Conflict of Heroes converted into a PC games.

I know the creater of the Advanced Tubrok System started developing a PC conversion but decided to cancel it (maybe Matrix should contact him and see if he will start it up again).

Im also hoping Lock n Load will see the light of day.

Infact there are many boardgames I'd love to play but without another player I have to forego them.

So am I on my own in wanting to see more boardgame conversions?

There are two boardgames I'd love to see converted. Both are old S&T titles. The first is the Battle of Napolean Series (the Battle of Quatre Bras specifically) and the 2nd is the Great Battles of the American Civil War, Pea Ridge for example.

To satisfy my other board game conversion wish list, I've started a slow process of converting original Squad Leader scenarios to the Panzer Command Kharkov system. This System so far comes the closest to giving me the same feel as the old Squad Leader games. I've done 2 so far, and the third is in the works, but waiting for the latest 'megapatch' before I can finish.

Thanks
Rick

There seems to have been a trend in board war gaming over the last good few years of generally moving away from complex "chrome" heavy monster games to games with tighter designs and more sophisticated approaches to game mechanics, with a strong emphasis on playability whilst retaining a high level of historical authenticity. It would be great if this were replicated in the area of computer war gaming where it can be (at a design level if not a programming level) too easy to add more and more levels of "realism" and detail whilst loosing focus on the gaming experience.

Therefore going back to the original question I'd like to see something along the lines of the Card Driven Games such as Paths of Glory, Hannibal or Twilight Struggle or along the lines of Fire in the Sky and Storm Over Stalingrad which strip away a lot of complexity but still leave an authentic feeling game.

Great Battles of the american civilwar or the Gamers Brigade series. I really like the order system in that series.

AMEN !

Check out War Plan Pacific as an example of how to successfully convert an existing boardgame to the pc. There's also the upcoming Carthage & Rome pc wargame which is a boardgame conversion.

Oh, and a recent boardgame which really would make a nice pc wargame : Victory Game's No Retreat - the Eastern Front at the strategic level.

Just when you think it's safe, GMT Games decides lets release a Normandy game at the battalion level! Monster gamers never die. But they must own enormous gaming tables

A decent conversion of Ad Astra's Saganami Island and/or Attack Vector would keep me busy for the next decade or so..

Not really on your own but preferences will differ from many. I've been wanting a Squad Leader conversion either one I'm not picky since home computers were created. Some have come close like Combat Mission and SPWAW but nobody has really done the conversion I wanted to see.

An ASL conversion would be superb....you could add a little chrome maybe....imagine if it came with scenario editor and map maker! Endless hours of fun...

I was getting my hopes up for the PC version of ATS but it was dropped! Please Matrix contact them and get the show on the road...it will be a big big seller!

This thread has hit on something with the idea of the card driven board games being converted.
Is it easier to program for a limited set of options?

The civil war game - GMT and Paths of Glory WW1 spring to mind.
I have Catan for PC. Its fine.
