I like to make economic and policy decisions for my empire, and let my right hand AI General take care of the nitty-gritty fighting when the bureaucrats and I decide to declare war.

So, what's up? All the AI does is invade enemy planets when it's not refueling. It doesn't respond whatsoever to enemy attacks.

Another issue: Sometimes there are some inconveniently placed space monsters I want to take care of. Understandably war fleets aren't sent out to deal with pesky space monsters, many of which are in systems I don't care about, but when I do manually send a fleet to attack one, after it's dead, the mission still reads as "Targeting Monster X" for a while. Sometimes it might finish. And sometimes after that the AI might take control of the fleet back. Sometimes not. This has happened in all the games I've played so far, both patches.

So maybe if the combat AI could be made like the computer opponents AI, that would be better. I haven't gotten into a deep enough war with well matched enough opponents yet that I see if enemies respond to their own planets being attacked and defending. I did have an AI declare a sanction on me (and they attempted to enforce it too - I'm proud) but my fleet was too busy recovering from a space monster attack I manually ordered several minutes ago (playing on 4x speed) to do anything, if they would have done it anyway on auto.

Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks.

EDIT: I just installed the "official updater" version of 1.02. The above info was provided with 1.01 and beta 1.02. Though I'm sure there's no difference and it doesn't matter.

Yeah your combat AI for your empire is dumb. Even more dumb when they suggest to go to war with an empire that can run you over.

Then dumber when they send your fleets off to take out a Refueling station or mining station and your homeworld gets invaded. LOL.

I don't use it anymore. At all. No good.

So is this going to be worked on at all? Or will we have to play manual forever?
