After weeks of vicious battles in the heart of Germany, the two fighting giants are exhausted. The Soviet Union, still ravaged by the war against Hitler, is unable to press the attack against fierce american counterattacks. In the United States, the shocking amount of casualities of the war in Europe lead to public opinion turning against a continuation of the war that is only now swinging in the U.S. favour. The counteroffensive is no longer pressed and quickly loses its momentum. The two huge warmachines slowly grind to a halt. Meanwhile, in early August, in another theater almost forgotten, the United States detonate new weapons of unheard of destructiveness over the japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan is forced to surrender. The example is understood in Moscow. A peace treaty is negotiated and Germany divided into a larger western and a smaller eastern part along the current front lines. Soviet scientists soon develop a nuclear weapon themselves, and an era which will be called the "Cold War" sets in... I received a thorough drubbing in this one. Rokondo took all the mid-map objectives, only my rear VHs are still under my control. Of the two companies of Guards Infantry I deployed, only a reinforced platoon remains. The mighty IS-3 tanks are burning, as are all the powerful ISU-122s tank destroyers except for two, one with its main gun shot out. The T-44 and T-34 tanks are fiercely aflame also. I felt like surrendering about ten turns ago, when very few Pershings had been destroyed and many of my tanks were dead. But something kept me from bugging out and so i fought until the bitter end, wearing the enemy down. The american losses began mounting, which further encouraged me. But the end was coming anyways. The line was no more, and everyone (those that still lived, that is) was retreating towards the rear VHs in the town for a final stand. but with just one fresh platoon and those badly mauled survivors, I wouldnt have lasted long. Congratulations, Rokondo, you beat me! I cant wait for the rematch...:D Rokondo is truly a very skillful player, World Cup opponents take care:cool: When I am home I will check for viruses and post some screenshots when you mail me your password, Sir.;)
