oh well, needed to do a restart, so was waiting on the next release, wanted to do a simi AAR of the same battle as Jon, with out doing the same tactics

but, need to do a new restart after the restart

I think I was losing, I was kicking, but didn't like the way the battle was unfolding

here is a loss page screen, and I thought I wasn't doing too well

(AHHHH, capture program crashed out, ahhhhhhhh)

okay, since I play the game with FOW off, so I can watch and see what the AI is doing, my maps will look different then Jon's will

want to see where the Russian Reserves are ? (at least in my game)

looks like the SU has reacted to my move in the south (wasn't intended, just were the troops, were, so wanted to take Rostov on the fly, before shifting my focus north)

Comrade

looks like the AI been reading some of your posts, it has been attacking across the Fin no attack line, and gaining some exp at my inforced peacefulness

greeesh, 26 Corps, 28 Divs, 20 Brigs all gone, and the Russian line is stronger then it was when I started !

(of course, the trick there is, I was shortening my lines, so that means the Russian line is also shorter)

to the good, that is a lot of Corps out of action, in the past, the AI has been slow to build his Divs into Corps (lucky me)

we got a new, new release, so a new campaign will be restarted

I guess that when the Soviets form corps instead of divisions, they can take more losses and still gain experience, which would make the tactic more worthwhile.

There doesn't really seem to be an easy way to fix the issue, as "freezing" the front would be unrealistic and not allowing the Soviets to attack across the line would mean they can't invade Finland again.

agree, they just don't want to chase across the border, until they are strong enough, across the line, the Fin's will snap back HARD

okay main goal here is to try out the victory set up (don't want to talk much about that yet, until we get it working the way they want)

so, for me, my main goal, for now, is to try and link up with the Fins, free the Fins for action, and take Leningrad

free my trapped troops

cut off any pockets of Su Troops

shorten my lines were I can, and Hurt the Russian

take Rostov

try to cross the Kersh

and see if I can push the Victory condictions

so

Leningrad area

cut the pocket, as I would expect the enemy to try on me

take what they give me, and start small

(I tend to go for the large, moble pocket, and that ends up taking time, and space, if not done well, so going for small pockets when and where I can, even better, since it is not part of the main focus of my attacks)

ahhh, long turn, about time for the sack, got to head into work tonight

cut some more pockets, but this is what you like to see, when you trying for pockets, shattered two units and overran a airfield full of IL-2s

two more pockets, what you want is to get the enemy into the open, once you crack the main line, they are not dug in anymore, can be a royal pain to have to dig them out, once they are dug in

and losses in troops, oddly, I didn't get many WIA, either dead, or, well, dead

not a good trade off for the first week, pretty close, but, had to do a lot of digging

and the Russians pulled there chestnuts out of the fire twice !

Those clusters of seemingly immobile units near some of the major cities, are those part of one of those "defence zones" mentioned by Joel?

those should be the reserve armies, some are active some are static, most are kind of lousy, so better to let them sit and build up and gain some morale, but at times that is very HARD to do, also, closer to the front, are two Tank Armies

well, don't think I can keep up the damage, unless I break though some place

but doing heavy damage while I am at it

very Heavy Russian Troop numbers in the south, so that is almost a stalemate, but the north is starting to break up (so expect a chunk of the southern force to be rushing north)

(one thing to remember, I wouldn't blame the losses on the AI, this a very nasty start line for both sides)

finally running down some of the Corps

Unit losses have been very Heavy this time around

700,000 men in losses so far for the Russian, they gave up trying to close out my pocket, which almost gave me a chance for a huge pocket, but couldn't close it off, but may get a couple next week

got Rostov trapped, if I can hold the line

across the Ketch

drive to the Fins is slow, but steady

my line is very brittle

the Russian is starting to give up, and fall back

no help/gain in Victory points yet

lost 33 Ju 52's, but got most of my Armor some fuel, need a big pocket

the almost pocket, turned into a pocket the other way, but, I should be able to open it, and it still may hurt the Russian afterward, but good move

now for the shocker, the Russian has gone over to the Off

this one may be tricky

if I can break the shoulders, he may lose more then he planned on, but, it takes a lot of pressure off the rest of his line
