so far in my 400star galaxy after years of exploration only black holes are scenic... a dozen ring planets don't seem scenic at all... or am i just not aware of where the scenic bonus is listed?

The Ai actually does a good job of building resort bases on scenic locales, so you may not be near too many scenic locations. Check your unit list and see if the AI already built some. The Galactopaedia list the sites that give a bonus.

i have colonies on ringed planet worlds and on worlds with ancient ruins.... and i've clicked on black holes and i see that black holes have a scenic bonus and that neutron stars do too... but... no moon or planet in any list or screen i've seen lists it....

see... what i'm confused about here is... where do i click to make sure something has or does not have a scenic bonus? is selecting a planet/star sufficient? or is there like a more detailed details screen i have to access? (like do i have to colonize it first or something?)

since you've been so helpful in this thread I am gonna repost my problem from another thread where I was sort of offtopic...

i can give the order to retrofit my starting starbase over my home planet...

yet it will never ever ever ever retrofit! ... i think this is because this unit is the only unit in the entire game i cannot turn off of automatic mode?

i want to turn automatic mode off but i can't... why not? what am i doing wrong? how do upgrade my starting starport to a new state of the art starport? do i need to scrap it and replace it? or is this possible? (shouldn't the planet be able to peform the construct duties?)

I think it need to be idle before you can retrofit it. And given that the private sector uses it to build ships all the time, it can be hard to fit a retrofit in to it's schedule.

That's a good question on automatic mode, there's a bunch of things I can't seem to turn off of automatic.

Regarding retrofit, I'm not sure if Resan is right or not though I tend to agree with him.  Regardless I have managed it fairly effortlessly.  But there apparently is also a bug that prevents refitting in certain circumstances.

retrofitting starports is only possible if the colony with the SP is idle. If it's building something, it won't work.
