HIJMS Musashi will be cancelled tomorrow "sine-die". The H.I. high cost (542.890) is forbidden and Pearl Harbor raid have proved the mastery of carriers. Battleships era is dead.

HIJMS Taiho will be built at accelerated rate. Orders will be dispatched tomorrow. Total H.I. cost will be 159.135 H.I, but we get this High Value ship for Jan 22nd, 1943. She will join to 1st Air Fleet like Flag ship.

Another orders will be dispatched tomorrow to save H.I.s (Ha-31 & Ha-5 aircraft´s engines production will be stopped).

LtCdr Hidejiro Utsuki reporting from I-122 at war patrol near Singapore his first sinking. Enemy ETC Type Tanker "HARPA" was identified near Tandjoengpinang (50,85) and sunk after launching 4 torpedoes with 1 hit. Enemy ship sunk without survivors.

I-18 spotted an enemy task force near Johnston Island, with 3 fast minesweepers and launched unsuccesfully 06 torpedoes against a enemy DMS.

I-19 launched unsuccesfully 04 torpedoes against an enemy AVD near Lahaina, at Hawaii Islands.

All submarines cruising to their war patrol areas. No more news.

Very interesting reading and AAR, Fletcher, and very courageous set of rules for both of you!

I see you don't have a rule for the Monsoon in Burma - we're trying something in our own game with Miller, John & Ny59giants, so if you wanna try that too...

SUBJECT: North Luzon Report.
DATE: Dec 8th, 1941.

Sailing at cruise to Aparri, we will landing tomorrow with our two Amphibious Groups. NO enemy activities in our transit. DESRON 5 Detach two destroyers to ASW duties with Aparri our main TF (HIJMS HARUKAZE, HIJMS HATAKAZE), they are unsuccesfully searching enemy sub contacts. Two enemy destroyers were spotted off Takao and both hit mines. Survivors rescued reports enemy ships were HMS Scout & HMS Thracian (Admiralty Class). Probably one of this ship was the same that our G4M1s(6) have been attacked unsuccesfully this morning under Thunderstorm weather conditions.

Another ships were spotted by our naval search aircrafts and VADM Kondo, 2nd Fleet CINC have sent CRURON 16 (HK Blockade Force) to intercept them.

Fast Amphibious TF is ending to ship Sasebo 1st SNLF to capture minor islands between Batan and Aparri. We hope tomorrow begin landings.

DD Yudachi reports followed by Allied Recon near Laoag.

CM Shirataku have minelay Batan I. to avoid enemy sub activities in this base. She has been rendezvous with CM Tsubane and both are returning home.

DMS W-13 & DMS W-14 have been detached from Batan I. Amphibious Group to ASW duties with returning to Takao freighters from several TFs (Batan Inv Group & Batan Air Group).

Two PBs have been orderer to rendezvous with Mauban Amph Group to ASW cover.

RADM Teiji Nishimura, DESRON 4 CINC (Manila Blockade Force), reporting from CL Naka that her Floatplane is damaged and will need about 2 days for repairs. Destroyers HIJMS Samidare, HIJMS Harusame and HIJMS Murasame from DESRON 4 ping enemy sub (" S Class ") near Iba.

RADM Ryuzo Takenaka, 23rd Air Flotilla CINC, reports air sweeps over enemy Airfield at Clark:

a) An Afternoon air raid with 37 A6M2 from Tainan Ku S-1 at 23,000 feet. Enemy air patrol with 23 P-40B at 20.000 feet. Weather conditions: partial clouds. Our pilots reporting 05 enemy fighters were downed vs 1 A6M2 lost. P.O. Sakai from Tainan Ku S-1 was credited with kill number 2.

b) An Afternoon air raid with 8 A6M2 from Tainan Ku S-1 Det B at 23,000 feet. Enemy air patrol with 3 P40B at 20,000 feet. No less than 2 P40 were downed. Lt Maki, Y. was credited with his kill number 2. A damaged A6M2 from Tainan Ku S-1 was missing.

After spotted several ships near Bataan, an air raid was launched at once with 11 G4M1 escorted by 12 A6M2. Heavy enemy air cover with 32 P-40E, 2 P-26 and 12 P-35A under moderate rain over Batan skies. One enemy minesweeper was sunk after one torpedo hit (USS Bittern identified). 05 A6M2 were downed by enemy fighters like 4 G4M1 lost in the same air mision.

Total lost over Luzon skies were 7 A6M2 (5 A2A and 2 operationals) and 4 G4M1. Intel from 11st Air Fleet confirms 12 P-40B, 3 P-40E, 3 P-26A and 2 P-35 (21 enemy aircrafts destroyed).

After been transfered to Samah, yesterday, our Chutai have been patrol AF skies awaiting any enemy raid. This morning, under partial clouds, enemy raid was spotted and all our available Ki-27b take off from AF to fight with enemy air "monsters". 10 four-engine bombers appears in the horizont at estimated altitud of 16,000 feet, our fighters flying at 15,000.

WO Daigo, R was credited to down one enemy bomber. He will be mentioned tomorrow during early morning flag-hoisting ceremony to pay homage to the Emperor.

All enemy aircrafts retired without any attack.

11st & 41st Infantry Regiments with 5th Arty Regt & 5th Engineer Regiment have began their march to Alor Star after complete unload from Amph.TF.
91st Naval Guard Unit (IJN) will march with them to capture Georgetown and garrison it.

Recon flight over Alor Star reporting 45% AF damage on this enemy AF after air morning raid with 29 Ki-21-IIa.

At Kota Bharu, 56th Infantry Regiment will shock attack enemy positions with 12nd Engineer Regiment in support at deliberate. 5th JAAF Coy at stand-by awaiting end of combat ops in the area. Yesterday, enemy was defeated in our first assault with more than 500 casaulties vs. 70 japaneses losses.

3rd Air Division launched several waves of bombers over enemy positions:

1.- Air Attack over FMSV Brigade. 44 Ki-21-IIa escorted by 10 Ki-27b at 10,000 feet meet enemy CAP with 3 Blenheim IF. 1 Enemy Fighter downed.
2.- Air Attack over FMSV Brigade. 30 Ki-48Ib, 22 Ki-21-IIa escorted by 9 Ki-27b at 10,000 feet meet enemy CAP with 4 Blenheim IF. 1 Ki-21-IIa and 1 Ki-48Ib lost.
3.- Air Attack over 8th Indian Brigade. 25 Ki-48Ib escorted by 24 Ki-43Ia and 7 Ki-27b. No enemy CAP.
Total enemy losses about 100.

Tomorrow air units from 3rd Air Division and battleships from Heavy Cover TF will follow with bombing enemy positions.

5th AF Construction Bn have been ordered to begin march to Kota Bharu from Patani.

3rd Air Division HQ with 27th & 35th JAAF AF Bns have began march to Phnom Penh from Kompong Trach like planned to strategic move to Kota Bharu when falls in our hands.

One enemy submarine have been spotted nearby to our landings. HIJMS Hibiki with 2 CH Subchassers have been detached to ASW Patrol duties in the area.

22nd Air Flotilla HQ reports air attack over enemy shipping in Malaya west coast. Two enemy cargo (Dominion Cargo M Class) have been sunk (both with 5,375 tonnage of displacement). No own losses were reported.

CRURON 7 (Rear Admiral Takeo Kurita) heading Cam Ranh Bay to rendezvous with Brunei Landing Forces after reported that enemy Force Z was destroyed by our courageous pilots.

Amazing view of Japan with many freighters heading for their starting ports to begin with convoy duties.
Islands nearby Honshu and Kyushu mined to avoid enemy subs and to be used like maritime corridors.

SUBJECT: Phillipine Landins Report.
DATE: Dec 9th, 1941.

I am proud to announce that british naval threat in this area have dissapear. The last destroyer from Hong Kong squadron have been sunk today. This ship with another two more were enough courageous to violate our naval inner area at Takao, two of them were sunk by mine hits, and third was damaged after clash with CRURON 16 (HK Blockade Force). Today a Naval Search flight have confirmed this ship was sunk. CA Ashigara has been detached from CRURON 16 to be repaired at Shangai (System 12, Flood 1, Engine 9) after be struck by 2 12cms hits from HMS Thanet. She will be escorted by HIJMS Asakaze. ETA Shangai: Dec 13rd 1941.

CRURON 16 will follow in Hong Kong Blockade area.

I-124 arrives to Takao and will be loading Type 88 mines for a new offensive mission in enemy waters.

Anti-PT boat Squadron was attacked by enemy submarine today. TB Chidori was sunk after 1 torpedo hit. Our 3 TBs heading Vigan to avoid enemy PT attacks over our landing forces.

RADM Teiji Nishimura, aboard HIJMS Naka reporting one enemy XAKL sunk by gunfire near Ilo-Ilo (Panaya Island). DESRON 4 will be split in two groups to cover Vigan landings after our naval search flights reported two enemy ships at 40 nm from Vigan heading East. Main group with CL Naka and 3 DDs will head north and a detach will keep our blockade at Manila Area.

Aparri II Landing Force reports 21st & 3rd Engineer Regiments, XIV Army HQ and all Arty units have been unloaded a Aparri. Tomorrow Aparri I Landing Force with Tanaka Det will be unloaded.
XAK Karachi Maru aground while attempting to unload at Aparri. Severe damage aboard (damage report: 7 system, 37 flood -33 major-, 14 engine -7 major-).

04 G4M1 have been lost near Iba when trying to attack enemy shipping in the area. Several enemy P-40 fighters in this area downed our unescorted 2E torpedo bombers.

Taichu was bombed by enemy B-17D from Clark Field. Tomorrow we will be ready for a heavy retaliation over enemy AFs. XAK Anchon Maru was moderate damaged after one bomb struck over her (Damage Report: 27 system, 8 flood -4 major- and 4 engine -1 major-).

01 enemy P-35A fighter was downed by our Ki-27b from 50th sentai, flying LRCAP, this morning when trying to attack our ships off Vigan.

At Mindanao, RADM Takagi, aboard HIJMS Ryujo reports her aircrafts sinks two enemy ships in the area trying to force the blockade (identified like XAKL Legazpi and XAKL Lepus). Three enemy Hudsons were spotted and A5M4 from Ryujo CAP were enough to avoid any damage, enemy flee.

At Vigan with enough ASW assets ready we will begin to ship our 2nd Landing Force with the backbone of 48th Division (47th Infantry Regiment, 48th F.A. Regiment, 48 Engineer Regiment, 48th Recon Regiment) and 4th Tank Regiment. They will land at Vigan when DESRON 5 will be available from Aparri.

We are awaiting landing news from Camagüin Special Landing Force (Fast Transport from Batan Island).

Several of our ASW air assets report hits over enemy submarines (12 spotted!!) in the Formosa straits. 2 G4M1 from Takao Ku K-1 reported hit over enemy SS off Hengchum and another one G4M1 from Takao Ku K-1 Det reporte another hit over other SS in the same area.

Kota Bharu falls in our hands this morning. An enemy brigade have surrender, they will be an excellent work tools for our plans.

35 Ki-27b take off from Singora to intercept any enemy shipping in the Malaya west coast. An enemy AK was attacked and 4 bombs hits over her. Ship spotted on fire and heavily damage, but no sinks was confirmed by our pilots.

One G3M2 from Genzan Ku K-1 at ASW duties in south Indochina crashed on landing.

AV Sanyo Maru was disbanded at Patani to support air ASW ops with her air group. Both of them transfered to Patani. One E13A1 from Sanyo Maru 2 was damaged on landing.

Brunei Invasion Group is ready to head south with I and III/81st NGU escorted by RADM Kurita´s CRURON 7 (4 heavy cruisers and 4 destroyers), coastal minesweeper AMc Wa-3 and light ASW forces (2 PBs). Kudat Invasion Group with 2nd Sasebo SNLF Coy will departure tomorrow heading SE and escorted by CL Kashii and E Saga.

Toko Ku K-1 Det will patrol at ASW duties all CamRanh Bay approaches.

I-121 reporting two enemy ships were sunk into her war patrol area. Her first victim was a british XAP near Singapore, sunk after 1 torpedo struck her and gunfire form surface. The second viticm was a coastal dutch minelayer identified like CMc Pro Patria, sunk after one torpedo hit. I-121 reporting "Bingo Winchester" and will head to CamRanh Bay ASAP. I-121 was attacked at morning by one enemy torpedo-plane identified like Vildebeest biplane.

I-123 reports one enemy ships was sunk by torpedo attack in her transit to Takao. Enemy ship was identified like chinese cargo ship XAK Hanyang.

I-124 at Takao loading Type 88 mines.

Our first ASW barrier in the Formosa straits meet no less than 12 enemy submarines heading northeast. Several meassures have been taken to prevent enemy intruders in Yellow Sea-Korea Straits commercial maritime links.

One destroyer with 2 SC Cha-Type will head Nagasaki area to patrol Soisho To island area. Another 4 SC Cha Type will arrive to Nagasaki and Tsushima. More details will be sent when ready.

Like we annouonce yesterday in former messager, we have proceedings to cancel CV Shinano & BB Musashi building "sine die". For other hand CV Taiho (future flag ship of Combined Fleet), CV Amagi and CV Katsuragi have been order to be build at accelerate rate. This carrier will join to Navy at first 1943.

SUBJECT: Convoys and metropolitan ASW assets.

Ships compromised to Nagasaki-Shimonoseki, Takamatsu-Kobe, Hakodate-Ominato and Shangai-Shimonoseki Convoys are ready in their departure ports. All of them will begin to load Resources for their arrival ports.

Nagasaki - Shimonoseki will sail by mine corridor between Iki-shima and Fukuoka to end at Shimono. No surface ASW assets will be needed there.

Takamatsu-Kobe is under heavy mine cover and will not need any surface ASW asset. The same for the Hakodate-Ominato.

Probably tomorrow all ships for Sapporo-Hirosaki convoy will be ready at this Hokkaido Port. The same for Matsuyama and Takamatsu Cs.

Shangai-Shimonoseki will need a special treatment from our ASW assets. 02 PB will be direct escort for this convoy in the first transit to Shimonoseki. The first step of this transit will be between Shangai and Siashu To Island. The convoy will be followed by DD Kuri and SC Cha-10 & Cha-22, all of them in ASW patrol between Shangai and Siashu To (this island will be mined tomorrow by CM Katoku -35 mines-). A second short leg ASW patrol will be ready between Siashu To Island and Korea straits (2 CHa Type SC in transit from Tokuyama -CHa-12 & Cha-24-, they will be based at Fusan).
DD Yugumo, SC Ch-19 & Ch-20 will patrol between Saishu To and Tsushima deep waters.
A fourth (Reserve) ASW patrol will be at Tsushima with 2 SC CHa type boats (CHa-11 & CHa-23).
CHa-4 & CHa-16 are in transit to Kagoshima from Takamatsu, to be readiness in our ASW system into Yellow Sea-Korea Straits Area.
CHa-17 & CHa-5 Subchassers will departure tomorrow to patrol the deep blue area between Koshiki-jima and Saishu To.

Deployment of ASW air assets will be available when Ground air support units & labor units will be ready in their bases (Chinhae, Masan, Moppo, Gunzan, Keijo, Chinnampo and Port Arthur).

In two days, when we await enemy subs get our Kyushu-Yellow Sea area will be deployed several Daitais-Chutais at Kyushu from 12nd Air Flotilla, all of them training at ASW duties.

35th JNAF AF Units is shipped at Tokyo and will arrive to Naha AF to support ASW air operations from Ku K-1 Daitai (G3M2). This air unit will be detached from 21st Air Flotilla when 35th JNAF will arrives to Okinawa Island.

CVE Hosho is awaited in two days at Kushiro to be our Metropolitan ASW Fleet flagship.

DATE: Dec 10th, 1941.

Aparri and Vigan have fallen in our hands !.

Orders have been sent to 14th JAAF AF Bn & 14th JAAF AF Coy to be shipped at Takao to Aparri at once. 3 PBs from Eastern ASW Formosa line will rendezvous with Transport TF to join in ASW duties.

48th JAAF AF Bn will be loaded at XAK ARIMASAN MARU at Takao to be shipped to Vigan. DMS W-10, W-9, W-11 and W-12 will return to Takao to cover this transit.

This early morning DESRON 4 Det have spotted enemy ships near Iba. Two enemy blockade runners have been sunk by long lance attack. Ships sent to bottom identified like XAK BENNEVIS & XAK MING SANG.

At morning, under heavy rain, enemy aircrafts (12 P-35) have attacked DD Samidare near Bataan (DESRON 4 Det). No hits and no enemy aircrafts downed. A second air attack with 2-engine bombers (identified like B-10s) was spotted later, but no hits was reported in our destroyer. In the afternoon enemy aircrafts come back with 10 P-35A attacking HIJMS Samidare and HIJMS Murasame. No hits or near misses were reported.

CL Naka, DD Natsugumo, DD Minegumo and DD Asagumo have arrived to Vigan without news. These ships from DESRON 4 will return to Takao to reload torpedoes and refuel. Transit will be done with ASW TF (Subchassers Ch-4, Ch-5 and Ch-6).

East of Formosa ASW patrol reporting contact with enemy "S Class" submarine. NO depth charges attacks.

Clark Field has been retaliated after yesterday raids on Taichu. 30 G4M1s escorted by 48 A6M2 have take off from Takao, and under ovescast weather condition have raided enemy air base. At CAP our pilots meet 20 fighters (17 P-40, 3 P-35). 2 enemy fighters have been downed by our aircrafts. Own losses: 1 A6M2. AirField with moderate damages (29 runway hits). A second wave with 20 G3M2 escorted by 2 A6M2 have not met any enemy on CAP. Runway was strucked by 16 hits. Third wave in the afternoon with IJA 2-engine bombers (9 Ki-21-IIa) under Overcast,
smashing runway with another 9 hits. Our recon aircrafts reporting 45% damages on AF.

24th Sentai have been transfered to Aparri with 32 Ki-27b. They will works on air cover over XIV Army marching units.

5th Air Division will be transfered by air with 11st Tpt Chutai and 13rd Spc Tpt Unit B (both transfered from Taichu to Takao). Motorized elements will be sent by sealift.

CRURON 16 at Pescadores reloading and refuelling. These ships will await to escort Vigan (48th Division elements) Landing Force.

1 G3M2 from 1st Ku K-1 crashed on landing (pilot died).
1 C5M2 from Tainan Ku K-1 crashes on landing after recon fly.
1 G4M1 from Takao Ku K-1 Det crashes on landing after Clark Field raid.

xAK Yasukawa Maru was torpedoed this morning by an enemy submarine near Mindanao. Ship was dettached from Surigao Landing Force. Orders have been sent to XAK Yamafuku Maru at Surigao
for a running fast to rendezvous with XAK Yasukawa Maru and rescue as many survivors from Kure
1st SNLF as possible.

6 F1M2 from HIJMS Chitose have attacked an enemy XAKL near Bacalod at morning. In the afternoon, under overcast sky our F1M2s have get several hits over same ship, smoke from fires obscuring target, probably heavily damages.

Surigao Landing Force have get his target and 1st Kure SNLF have landing at Surigao. Tomorrow will be in our hands.

1 H6K4 from Toko Ku T-1 at Babeldaob grounded due to maintenance.

CVL Ryujo and escorts will head east to cover landings at Davao tomorrow.

Cagayan TF landing reporting tomorrow will arrive to Cagayan escorted by Nagara´s Flotilla.

I-121 reporting beeing attacked by a british destroyer near Singapore. Damage Report: 4 system damage and 5 flood damage. Out of torpedoes, her commander reports leaving patrol zone to be replenish at Takao.

XAK Nankai Maru was sunk by enemy torpedo launched by a dutch sub near Saigon.

3rd Air Division have launched a massive air attack over enemy positions at Alor Star. 46 Ki-21-IIa with 26 Ki-48-Ib escorted by 24 Ki-43 Hayabusa have bombed 6th Indian Brigade positions. More than 100 enemy casualties reported.

Enemy B-17s have raided over Cam Ranh Bay. 13 four-engine bombers have been detected and all availabel fighters from 84th I.F.Chutai have take off at once from airfield. Our braves pilots reporting 8 enemy bombers damaged. Enemy air attack over airbase with 1 hit at 15,000 feet.

CRURON 7 Reporting Kudat Landing Force will arrive to target tomorrow.
HIJMS Mikuma will sent a E7K2 floatplane to recon Brunei before landings.

Several enemy sub contacts have been reported by our patrol aircrats at Indochine. CPT Hiroshi Imazato have been ordered to sortie to hunt enemy submarines in Cam Ranh Bay area. He will be aboard HIJMS Sagiri, with HIJMS Shikinammi and HIJMS Ayanami in the same ASW TF.

HIJMS Hibiki and 2 Ch Subchassers will cooperate in hunter killer ops in this area.

Bihoro Ku K-1 Det have been transfered to Cam Ranh like ASW Air Assets to cooperate with surface ships.

Malaya Heavy Cover Force is returning to Shangai to reload and refuell. This ships will return to CamRanh to support Kuching landing ops.

Allied aircrafts have been sighted over Singora and Kota Bharu.

XAKL Jinsan Maru, a Miyati light cargo, in transit to Makin from Takao was intercepted this early morning by an enemy submarine at surface off Iriomate Is. 9 shell hits struck our little ship. She has been ordered to follow up with her transport mission at cruise speed with her 20 flood damage. Construction Coy must arrives to Makin at any price.

Sasebo 2nd SNLF Det (-) have landing at Camagüin Island like planned. Tomorrow will be in our hands.

10 enemy P-35A have attacke our destroyers (DESRON 4 -Manila blockade force-) off Bataan. No hits on our ships.

5th Air Division HQ started with airlift to Aparri from Takao. Aparri base with 42.514 supplies. AF at level 1+40%. I hope in two days our labor units get level 2.

02 Ki-27b have been taken from air reemplacement pool to fullfil 24th Sentai at Aparri. One Ki-57I have been taken from reemplacements to fullfill 13rd Spc Tpt Unit B.

DD Yudachi (DESRON 4 Det) have been reinforced at Vigan with subchassers Ch-10 and Ch-18 to patrol in Formosa South ASW Line. In the same way, DD Ikazuchi and DD Inazuma will join to Formosa ASW Line from Aparri to reinforce this area after four enemy submarines have been spotted there.

Recon Flights over Manila reports 21 enemy ships docked in harbor.

Vigan II Landing Force will departure tomorrow from Pescadores with the backbone of 48th Division. This force will be escorted by 3 DD in ASW duties and several minor units like direct escorts.

21st and 23rd Air Flotillas will launch a massive strike against enemy harbor tomorrow.
