first day looks good, 10 Victories off the bat

I don't like the Poles going on a mad dash into Prussia, that is silly (they don't stand a chance, but they can defend, and fight, why waste half of your forces driving for something they can't hold, or gain, before they fall ?)

always feel like you are too weak

weak in air, weak in air Tech/Doc, but I am a land Army

for the tech levels, read the numbers back one, if it says, tech level 5, it means you are at level 4, and the next one gained with be level 5, so, by the screen, I show my light tank guns are level 5, 1942, but it means I am level 5, 1940 (it is too advanced for me to research now)

way too many AC units, was going for speed, but those are going to be very weak, brittle, in the main drive, they need to be off to the side, and be used to exploit (even worse, since I forgot to upgrade my AC !, always something better, more worthwhile, needed)

some of my HQs and troops

and again, yea, too many Cav, but they were set up for the flank of Poland, SINCE when you make Slovakia, it never builds any troops (outstanding game design there)

just in case, some of the HQs were named before I had the troops for them, so, yea, my SS Corps is kind of short of SS troops !

well, Poland took 28 days, and I got about 760 Rare Metal, enough for about a week and half to get my production back to work

trying to let the AI do some of the work this time, set 1st and 2nd Armies to Army Group West's command, and gave them the move order

during the fight with Poland, France got a little fisky, and made 3 cross border visits, all returned shorty

but just as the War ended with Poland, the English got into it, so got 3 crossings at the same time, and having to scramble a bit, to block them (but my new builds are starting to show up, so those will got to block this time, I keeping my 2nd Eastern Armies out of the border fights

looking at the diplo screen, I see that Denmark and Lithuania are Allied with France, that is a kiss of death, so, Armycorps Prussia (or what ever I named it :) has attacked Lithuania (shifted one of the light Armor to them, to give them some punch)

messes up the Russian later line, and I need Rare Metal (iirc the pak, gave Estonia and Latvia to the Russian (I know in another game, that pak doesn't take effect until the 40s for this area ???)

war a Sea battle, a couple more wins like that, and I won't have a Navy left !

finally caught the French Airforce

also, and find this HARD to believe, found a Hex, that you can enter, but you can't leave, trying to get them out for the 10th time, the game crashed, HARD to believe nobody noticed there was a goofy hex in Holland (to be honest, I was a little surprised to see the Dutch retreat to it, so I followed, but can't get off the dang island

Moving from an island to an island/coast requires that the surrounding sea area be free of any hostile naval units. Your move gets cancelled/interrupted when a hostile navy enters the surrounding sea area, and the AI makes a point of cancelling moves if it can for units trying to move across a sea area like that.

Only way to get across is to simply leave the unit alone and hope someday the unit has time to make it across before a hostile navy shows up. That or win local sea superiority with your Stukas.

Jim

thanks Jim

I never seen any ships in the area, but that is a good place for them to slip in and out (you would think you would get a message about it ?)

well, took 24-26 days to take out Lithuania (only attacked with a light Corps)

got about 640 Rare Metal, used that up about the time the battle was over

was a mistake to give the Armies to the AI, sent both to the Northern German plain, to set up my attack, most of them went to the Maggot line area (which to be fair, I am at war with France, not the lowlands, so the AI can't know what I am planning, but I was just being lazy, didn't want to plot each move :)

funny, though Oil was Germany's weakness, it is rare metal that is killing me, going to have to fight in the winter, to take out the lowlands and hope they got a good stockpile

got around 424 production (when it works, but using most of it, to upgrade, replace, and build supply and goods, still got around 1400 Manpower)

gonna be a good Blitz once I pull the trigger this time

Lux takes one day, get 500 Rare Metal, they don't surrender, got to get some metal, my edge early is my production, got to keep Krupps working, Netherlands is protected by the English, they are next

funny, I can be as aggressive as the next guy, more so in fact, but this time, the game is driving me on, instead of me doing it

so looks we are co mitted to another winter war (at least it is not a blizzard)

about 18 days for the Neitherlands to fall (well, it still there, I just running them down now) got 8500 Rare Metal this time around

I could wait, but I got France and Belgum outflanked, so no reason to let it pass, the English and French keep attacking across the Maggot line, so may as well let them enjoy your fun

to be honest, I think the AI is looking pretty good, sneaky too !

I was able to get a true right hook in this time, and the AI did a pretty good job of shifting it's forces, in the end, it even left the Maggot line (at the time, I thought that was a mistake, but it took me longer to get into and though it, then it took him to get out of it, so I wasn't able to exploit it, as it looked like I should)

my idea for the fast reconn worked out good, only, they are very brittle, and can't stand ANY combat, I had set them up to slip though a gap, which they did, raced half way across France, then got stopped dead in there tracks !

it is really looking like it is going to be a 2 stage battle, finish off Paris (yea right) and then finish off the 2nd half of France, the AI is doing a good job with the moble part, but I don't think it can do a set piece battle with me

get the diplo side to work (it don't seem to work for me as player controlled, and the AI, is silly, but it does get some trades, that I can't do)

with in a patch or two, I think this is going to be what HOI3 should of been, I think it may be a  Great game (if you like the real time part of it, that kind of turns me off)

the set up for the attack, I still screwed up, I ended up trying to take all of it, instead of just massing my forces, I should of massed my force, and went though two provinces right to Paris (too worried about my flanks)

good timing, was trying to set up my command, and had a HQ that was just built in the front line, just as the Allies attacked !!!!

and a close up, got some Mossies and 2 groups of 109s playing around, you can see one of the groups of 109s making there dives to attack something

oops, that is the English coming to town, caught me sleeping, even worse, as I know I AI will gamble and make raids like that

I did have some MP units in the area, but they are better at chasing Parasions , then fighting real troops

I sent some Motor troops to stiffing up my fast recon units, they fast, but just bumping into something, will kick them back !!

and, to be honest, I goofed, I used my Armor to try to take Paris on the quick, I should of just shifted around and used them the way I normally do, and left Paris for the following Inf once they clean up in Belgium
