It seems Mr. Hitler is crazy again....he invaded Denmark. Unfortunately, the recent events prevent France from being able to intervene. We are very vulnerable to the Italian-Swiss alliance. The British aren´t willing to go to war alone....

The Peaceful Soviet Peoples paradise watches the invasion of Denmark by German forces in late January 1935. Britain and France have not declared war against Germany. Can this be a sign that aggression is now the way forward in Europe. The Germans seem to have built a defensive line too. In fact they are building two. One on the border to France, along the Rhine, and one along the Oder(?) close to the Polish Border. Some would say this is in preparation of fighting the first world war all over again...

The Western democracies are facing growing pressure from their people´s to help Denmark. These images took by British Naval fighters show a well prepared army resisting bravely to the German hordes. In Paris there were some clashes between the police and pro Denmark demonstrators.

1935 febuary,

All is still very quiet in the Soviet Peoples Paradise. The Soviet people is not used to warfare, so to gain as many lessons as possible, some naval observers have been sent to look at how the German-Danish war is progressing. Here is what they found. As can be seen from Bomburs screenshot, the Danes have chosen to fight without a HQ...

1935 March,

While there is anti-german protests in Paris and London, there seems to be a quite different reaction, in Portugal, to the war in Denmark. They have now formally signed a pact with Germany. Making them a minor ally. Spain is neutral still, but who knows, at this pace.

The "Danish war" seems to be slowly grinding along as Germans have crossed the Limfjord, and are closing in on Aalborg. The Germans have also taken Fyn (The Danish straits hex), and repaired the bridge leading to it. Unless someone takes a stand against the Germans, surely Denmark will fall soon.

Here is a picture of how Europe looks now, geopolitical.

1935, april.

Well it seems the danes are putting up a fight still. But soon it will all be over, at least thats what my intelligence officer is telling me. Copenhagen is now under besieged by German Submarines, and the danish airforce is nowhere to be seen... (it´s hiding on bornholm... heaven knows why)...

France is still preoccupied with building defences along the Swiss border...

... and in the Soviet Workers Paradise, makes a breakthrough in the military sciences. The first monoplane fighters have been produced. The engineering team that was behind this feat is awarded with the order of Stalin! As soon as possible these advanced fighters will roam the skies in the peaceful Soviet Workers Paradise.

1935, May.

Denmark has fallen. Sure there remains a few troops resisting south of copenhagen, but, all the production centers have been taken. Germany has tasted the sweet fruits of conquest. Will it end now? Or are there other targets for German agression...

The Free peoples of Europe are outraged to see another peaceful country attacked by the Fascists. Now the Italian Army invade Yugoslavia. The French and British governments are close to collapse, as the left wing opposition in both countries is openly campaigning for an antifascist front with the USSR....but will the USSR accept the invitation??????

1935, June...

What might have been a peaceful summer has been marred by war! First the Danes are overrun by German military might, and now Yugoslavia has been invaded by Italy, Hungaria and Bulgaria. Spearheads from each country, and Albania have been recorded by war correspondants on site. Here is a look at how the map of Europe looked as stalin read the news in his morning intelligence briefing.

As Stalin gazes across the European map, he cannot help but notice the defensive lines that Germany and France have built to go across Europe. "... from the Alps to the Rhine a stone curtain has decended on Europe..." he mumbles. Here is what he sees.

In a recent intelligence briefing Stalin saw that German tank technology had outstripped that of the Soviet Peoples Paradise! Well no more... Germany may have been the first to invent the Light Tank II, but it won´t have this technological edge over the Soviet people.

Skopje has fallen! The first Yugoslav city to go down. The Bulgarians captured it. Soviet cartoonists are beginning to think like Stalin: The west is all glory and no guts. This appeasement policy they have is a joke. Look just at the cartoons they are drawing...

1935, August

Polish Nationalism, preasure from Lithuanian nationalist wanting their own capitol back (Vilnius was conquered by Poland between the world wars) and the concern for Ukrainian and White Russian minorities in Poland, has caused the Soviet Peoples Paradise to declare war on Poland.

The Soviet self-defence act is headed up by 4 crack armies.

The Baltic Army is attacking from the North, and has helped envelope Vilnius. From Minsk the Soviet 1st Army is moving to attack Vilnius as well from the South. The battle was swift, and the Polish Air units there were caught on the ground. Vilnius is liberated from the oppressive Poles!

The 3rd Soviet Army is thrusting forwards towards Warsaw, and will soon reach it. The 2nd Soviet Army has begun the liberation of Lvov. The battle here was also easily won, and the Polish Air force stationed here too was caught on the Ground.

Two reconaissance sorties where flown near Warsaw, and in both cases the Red Army fighters shot down multiple aircraft from the Polish Airforce, without incurring loses. Soviet Long range bombers bombed warsaw, and took out a few units, as well as causing major disruption. In the forrests north-east of Warsaw, a Polish Cavalry unit was spotted, and it too was bombed, and its combat strength halved.

Here is a look at the battle map:

@82nd

Well i got them off the internet. I googled explosion symbol, and found them there. I then did some editing of them in Microsoft Image Composer (but you could use any old program i guess), and thats it basically. I can send you the symbol if you want...

1935, september

Poland is trying to resist. The Polish field army, or what that is left of it, tried to make a valiant stand near the River Bug. After some initial bombings, their 7th division, which included tanks, was beaten back by units from the Soviet 3rd Army. The Cavalry division that was spotted last turn, remained in place guarding a vital river crossing as well. It too was bombed, and then attack, this time by units of the 1st Red Army, again successfully. In fact there were no setbacks at all. In the south the 2nd Red Army cleared the few survivers from the units that had been stationed in Lvov, and the Soviet "Long Range" bombers once again bombed Warsaw.

However, things are perhaps not all that they seem to be, initially. Germany too has declared war on Poland, and has connected East Prussia with mainland Germany, and also seized a few key crossing points along the River Oder.

Here is a screenshot showing the battles that have happened this turn:

In Yugoslavia, things still look bleak for the defenders. Zagreb is now completely surrounded, but still held by its defenders. The Italian coalition, seems to be enveloping the forces in the south too, but so far, no other cities have fallen. Perhaps this will change soon. Something that doesn´t seem to change is the British and French attitude of defence first! Here is a look at how the European map looks at the end of September 1935:

Turn Oct1935:

Germany has opened a corridor to East Prussia. As this was the only aim in war against Poland, German units are not advancing any further. On the Balkan Zagreb was taken. The defenders have run out of supply and were exhausted. An attack finished the battle of Zagreb. Combat result show that the defenders were beaten with only slight losses for the attackers (combat window in lower right corner). The last two months similar attacks caused losses around 50 percent for the attackers with only casulties around 10 percent for the defenders.

Bulgarian units moving deeper into Yugoslavian territory run into an ambush and were completely eliminated. But Italian army is getting in deeper and deeper. Split will soon be encircled and Belgrad in under siege of Hungarian army.

At the northern border of Greece some British units are positoned and get reinforcements each month. Bulgarian units watch the situation and are ready to throw back any upcoming enemy.

1935, October

Soviet Armies have now reached the outskirts of Warsaw. There was a minor battle between a few units from the 3rd Red Army, and an independant Polish Brigade (can´t have been more), of Light Tank Is, on near Warsaw. The Tanks (obviously a desperate attempt at a delaying action) where beaten, and lost half their strength.

A new Air Base was built at Brest-Litovsk, and taken into use. From there several scouting missions where flown over the Polish capitol, and near it, but the Polish Airforce refused to take to the skies to defend it. So far this invasion has turned out rather well.

Here is a look at the map at the end of October (notice that Warsaw is heavily defended):

Oct31 1935, the Balkan

The defenders of Split moved out of their positions in order to escape to Sarajevo. Italian forces could take the town without any fight. At Belgrade the Yugoslavian army moved two HQs out of the capital and might want to engage the Hungarian and Bulgarian forces north of the town. The attackers are not strong enough to launch an attack and continue the siege of Belgrade. The connection between the capital and Sarajevo was cut, but Yugoslavian army might open it again as the Hungarian forces are unable to secure the territory.

Poland late october 1935, early november...

Several battles occur in the area around Warsaw. With complete Air superiority, the Soviet Airforce (the VVS) completes alot of bombing missions, as well as a few scouting ones. Among targets hit is the Polish High Command! Several staff members are killed and a train is destroyed.

Most notably of these land battles is the battle for Warsaw, which i unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot of. But below you can see where all the action was, as well as the totals for the turn. The Polish Army is doing its best to defend, but its just no match for the Red Army!

1935, Late November

The Polish collapse is inevitable! This turn their high command was caught in combat, and those that weren´t killed, surrendered to units from the 3rd Red Army. Also the Polish Air Force, based in Poznan, was bombed, and in the dogfight there, the VVS (Soviet Air Force) lost its first fighter. It was one of the brand new Fighter IVs, flown by a somewhat inexperienced pilots. However, this did not cloud over the victory that is sure to come.. here are the losses taken by each side during the Polish war, and the losses this turn:
