Hello guys,

the search function couldn't help me out.... Well, I'm still playing the Guadalcanal scenario and have Chitose and Nissin together with the "real" carriers in one TF as additional naval search "boosters". Both have two air groups with Alfs and Jakes but are not filled up to their max capacity. The air groups are on random search with no arcs given (what I normally do, but at sea the danger might arise from all directions) with 70% search and 30% rest. They have been at sea now for quite a while, but not spent a single one of their sortie points. That leads me to the conclusion that they don't fly for whatever reason. Normally I don't consider myself being somehow untalented in operating the game, but there must be something I just don't do correctly.....

Well, thanks again very much for any kind help from you!

I'm almost certain that CAP and search missions do not reduce the total number of sorties. You have to do some kind of naval/port/airfield attack to reduce sorties on CV/CS ships.

This would be an explanation, because I also wondered about the long lasting sortie capacity of the carriers with their fighter groups being on CAP 24/7 with at least 30%......
In the beginning I believed I would have to "turn them off" when nothing enemy like could be in range, in order not to waste my sorties long before they were really needed..... That facilitates handling very much, thanks alot!

I am pretty sure I read CAP is excluded , so assume naval search maybe as well?

Only attack missions expend sorties, since it's depicting limited amount of air ordnance even CV had (bombs mainly). CAP and Search does not use sorties, well, maybe if they attack something during Naval Search/ASW mission
