Well, the Bavarian Beer Monster's visit to NC was a smashing success.  We had a great time meeting and getting to know Torsten and also Bruce during the visit.  We've fattened Torsten up and sent him on his way to the beaches of SC and Fla.

BTW, I accounted for all my cats this morning, so the rumor that he eats cats is unfounded.

The possible implications are 1) Torsten in Alf 2) Alf was German 3) Torsten is an alien 4) Torsten is an 80s sitcom star I'm sure I missed a few....

Bloody utility companies.  Yes, I'm changing my provider.  No, I don't really care that you're able to offer me a new tariff that's usually only available to new customers.  And I don't care if you'll only be charging me £64 a month on this new tariff, because I've found someone who's cheaper and is giving me £70 to change.  Now, it's my money and even if you were cheaper I'll spend it where and how I like.

Ooh, I forgot about gas. I have separate companies for gas and electricity. We don't get a choice of providers however.

Gas and leccy. I get free water and Mrs Dixie is i/c the 'fun' stuff like phone and internet.

I usually have fun with these telemarketers ...

I'm renting my apartment from a military connected foundation which by law isn't allowed to bring in more money than they spend on the administration and maintenance of the buildings. This means that my rent is very cheap by Stockholm standards. A nice part of the service is also that phone, electricity, water, internet (20 MBit/s) and garage is included in the rent. The only "extra" that I have to pay for is the TV channels.

This means that now and then some telemarketer from the TV company phones and try to convince me that they have the most fantastic package to offer me that includes not only the TV, but the phone and internet as well. After they have babbled away for a while and tries to hook me up, I solemnly inform them that their price is higher than what I'm already paying. A couple of pushy souls have then tried to counter with "We can go lower than what you are already paying". I usually then inform them that this means that they should pay me to use their services, since my phone and internet cost me $0 a month ...

It's awesome to really throw them off their scripted responses ... they usually respond with "Ah, uhm, ok, guess we cant beat that" ...
