Sigh....

chump change compared to this b*tch (or is it tw*t?)...good thing i use the automated kiosks mostly now...

http://news.travel.aol.com/2011/02/17/ticket-agent-accused-of-stealing-480-000-from-passengers/

Doesn't matter - it seems these were the guys (in the first article) that x-ray your luggage, and get to go through it. Unless you are carrying everything, you are vulnerable... and even then they can still get you going through the gate security (although these thefts often occur by organized non-FTA thieves.)

We've had a number of items pilfered from checked luggage in the past. My sister-in-law had several hundred dollars worth of stuff stolen, apparently by FTA. She filed a complaint, but never heard a reply (AFAIK).

EDIT: And unfortunately, the employees can often get credit card numbers (and other info) from their computer system even if you didn't deal with them directly.

They shouldn't be able to. They may keep your card number but that little number on the back (used for customer not present transactions) should never be stored. Even the card number should be kept only in an encrypted database. For more info Google PCI-DSS

Depends on what company you are dealing with. My gas company just got rid of their entire billing department because some employees were making off with credit card info and other stuff. Hopefully the company they outsourced it to will do better.

I have apologized three times already. She won't accept it. All I can hope for is that it'll at least be less icy between us after a while.

It was horrible today, sitting next to someone who used to be really friendly, and having this sheet of ice between us.

It's tough when you tell a female that their beloved isn't up to snuff...

Good Thread, I didn't tell her that! I'm not suicidal.

What I did was such a stupid accident, but she won't accept it.

Yesterday, I went into her office at the end of the day to say goodbye. We'd gotten to the stage where I could hug her in a friendly way, and so I leaned in to do that, and when I went to put my cheek against hers I hadn't turned my face enough, and my lips brushed against her face. She thinks I was trying to kiss her, which I was not, believe me.

I knew it advance that she couldn't handle being called "honey" or "sweetie" by anybody but her fiancee, so the idea that I would attempt to kiss her on the cheek or anywhere else... Well, she thinks I did it on purpose.

It's so stupid, and I would give my left leg (including FrankenToe) to have it never had happened...

dam, T...that sux...it's why i just shake hands with any and all females at work...if you didn't have to work so close to her, i'd say forget her...anyone not willing to forgive a friend a mistake like that isn't worth having as a friend in the first place...

Do you think she'll file a sexual harrassment complaint? Here in the US....you can get one just from someone of the opposite sex overhearing a conversation not to her taste.

Unlikely, thank Thread. There's no tradition of that sort of thing in this country.

Sigh, what a rotten day. I think I'll call in sick tomorrow and just burrow for the weekend. See if I can't pick up the pieces...

And the system containing the database must be firewalled off from your entire network allowing only authenticated data access through it, etc, ad nauseum.

I spent 3 hours going through that bureaucratic nightmare and promptly declared to my superiors that we would no longer be storing any kind of credit card data whatsoever.

Probably why the local gas company stopped doing so... of course, they waited until AFTER somebody made off with customer info.

Know where you are at T. Think of it this way. Even if you had tried to give her a kiss on the cheek who cares. 30% of the world kisses everyone's cheek....

Get that attitude up. You are not wrong. It is that attitude she wants to see. Stomp in there like MacArthur going back into the PI and show her you didn't do anything wrong. That attitude of being wrong that you are currently showing is telling her that you did do something wrong. Act the way you see it. Don't wait for her lead...

Well, I'm now officially no longer friends with Mrs. McDull. What a sucktastic day.

An acquaintance of mine just lost his wife to cancer. He's got a 4 year old boy now with no mother. Bad days are relative.

Man, that does truly suck.

You should be very, very careful with the Plutonic females. They are naturally icy.

I hear they are still quite upset over being "demoted" to a stray asteroid, too.

I understand bro. You've got a long, long rope with me.

In my experience, stupid crap that causes rifts with friends often resolves itself as long as at least one side remains cordial and friendly.
With me, I invariably have to go look in a mirror and determine what idiotic thing I did to offend the other person and go apologize. Wish I had learned that earlier in life. There are a number of people I'd love to have a chance to say I'm really, really sorry to.

Yep, that has been my experience too.

And add a bit of patience also.

It's tough when you tell a female that their beloved isn't up to snuff...

Years ago my little sister started dating the half owner of a famous nightclub in Athens (Georgia) and I told her that I thought he was a jerk. She got mad at me, but a year later he swore out a warrant for assault on her when she slapped him in an argument. The policeman delivering the warrant went into shock when the woman he was supposed to be arresting turned out to be all of 4'11" and 105lbs... the charges were later dropped and I refrained from saying "I told you so!"

You are a better man than me ! ( which is not saying much )

Deli | Houston, TX, USA

(A customer walks in. His clothes a bit mismatched and he’s wearing a fanny pack. The eyes are bloodshot and he’s sporting a huge smile on his face. I’m relatively new at this point.)

Me: “Hi sir, welcome to [deli], how can I help you today?”

Customer: “Um, yeah can I get some monkey brains?”

(He’s completely serious if a little under the influence, so I go with it.)

Me: “Sorry sir, we’re fresh out today, truck comes tomorrow.”

Customer: “Dang, how about some mermaid?”

Me: “Mermaid isn’t in season yet sir, but our tuna is pretty good.”

Customer: “Bummer. Well how about your brownies, they got pot in them, right?”

Me: “No sir, we switched bakeries just last week.”

(After ordering about half of our menu and asking if everything that had a green dot next to it [indicating something organic] had pot in it, he pays and eventually leaves. I’m left in tears as I’m laughing so hard. When my manager asks me what’s going on, I explain what happened.)

Manager: “D***! I missed Fanny Pack Guy?!”

Kristian, I told you before... it is much better this way... don't befriend married women... it can only lead to very big trouble some day... just leave them to their husbands...

In any case, if something gets wrong, you as a "third wheel" will always be to blame and always be the "guilty party" - please beware!
