Hey Stu!

Bruce is keeping in touch with Nik and he seems to be ok.  Back in Seattle, and had a couple of good job interviews.

You get used to it, though it is tougher the older you get. I grew up in the southern US (Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina) and we never had air conditioning in any of our houses or cars. I became a distance runner and distance cyclist back there and just learned to deal with the heat. My longest ever (one day) bike ride was 152 miles across the southern tip of the Appalachians on a 102 degree day.

In the summers of the mid 1970's I worked for the Park Service as a Confederate soldier - in a uniform of wool trousers, wool shirt, wool and cotton vest and wool jacket. Now that I've been living in the pacific northwest for twenty plus years that uniform on a 100 degree day would probably kill me!

Good night friends

Dunno about viking land, but there's ticks aplenty coming out of the woodwork here. And they're hungry! Bring lots of insect repellent!

I think I saw one insect the entire week. Must be the harsh winter that killed most of them off.

Nik had a job interview Wednesday. It went well because the boss had the lead come in and do another 30 minute interview after he was done

Sounds promising. Thanks for the update, Bruce.

Heya warspite1,

Can you refresh our collective memories? Where is your job offer taking you? What line of work is it?
Warspite1

Hi CB. After the best part of thirty years with the same bank, i was made redundant
in January . Sector i worked in was essentially in run-off mode. Fortunately, one of the two majority state-owned banks is still hiring in a similar sector to that I have worked in for the last decade or so, and they offered me a job just before my holiday - good timing or what?

Good to hear! Congratulations!

Now if just USS Mike & Nik could do the same ...

Hey Per,

I think USS Mike has some news on this front. I'll let him provide more details, but it's good news.
