The thing in the picture below says it's so. Doing all those short passes is a good way of dislocating and luring up the opponents midfield, and then find a player between the midfield and defense line for a good scoring chance. Personally, I love seeing this being done ... over and over again.

I'm not saying that it isn't an effective way, but I fail to see why everyone seems to fawn over Barca and their 'trademark' football as the commentators phrased it last night. Sure, it's one way but why is there an insistence from the media that it's the way? Lets face it, they almost ballsed up against Arsenal, a team who frequently self implode. Perhaps I'm just jealous that my local team barely knew what the ball was, let alone how to pass it?

It probably doesn't help my opinion that I saw the Madrid/Barca semi-final. That was a terrible, terrible game and hasn't done anything to improve my opinion of either team.

Oh, I could agree with you there - the semi vs Real was a shame and a exhibit on primadonna behavior. The way to play? Doubtful - it demands so much on having the right kind of players. With Xavi, Iniesta & Messi it works and is beautiful to look at ... any other team with less than X gazillion pounds to buy players with - hardly.

ETA; In short i can agree with you on that point as well ... and my favorite Swedish team have roughly the same passing qualities as your fav team, maybe that's why I like to see Barca play

Who are your favourite Swedish team?

It's a team from my home town up north - IFK Lulea. They advanced up one division last year and are currently playing in "Division 1 North", which would be the equivalent of your League one. They actually made the highest division in the beginning of the 70's, but were relegated immediately. Given the harsh winters and short summers up there, the season is a little too short to cultivate really good football teams. Hence, icehockey is more popular. I still follow them regularely though and watch every game I can.

Provided that it's behind the demographic group that I prefer photographic evidence of, that's fine.

Easily fixed Andre. You just google for "females with perky bosoms clad in blue and white bikinis". Any hits will surely be IFK Lulea fans.

I was being slightly sarcastic really. It could have been a great finish, three cars fighting for 1st place with Button (3rd) being considerably faster than Vettel or Alonso. Alas a big smash a few laps from the end meant that the race was stopped until the wrecks could be cleared and that pretty much finished the competition.

Had bars and a top box fitted to the care today in prep for tomorrow's hols. Coming home they made the mosy god-awful whistling noise. The fix? Black masking tape/duct tape over the expansion slots on the underside of the bars.
