Good lord...did it just become cloying in here, or is it just me? I mean how much saccharine sweet good wishes can a man take in mid-afternoon without lapsing into an auto-sugar coma?

Post wife's birthday gift / anniversary gift shopping tithe...

Later this month we'll mark our 15th anniversary. We've followed the traditional gift cycle, so this year was crystal. Bought Mrs. Chickenboy some Waterford crystal: a sugar bowl and creamer set. A little surprised to see that Waterford crystal is made in Germany.

Hi Andre...

I havn't felt any since the two good ones on Monday, but they (Christchurch) have had a 4.2 this morning, but we didn't wake or feel it down here.

I was a bit worried on Monday though, as my Son Daniel was in Christchurch City for a birthday party. He was in the Eastern Suburbs where the flooding and some damage was, and the flat he was in got trashed. He luckily managed to get out of the City (lots of bridges and roads closed), and back down here that night. But I was a worried camper for a while, as the cell-system went down, and I couldn't get in contact with him for some time.

Mrs. Chickenboy got me a color Nook for my b-day.  I've been skeptical about e-readers for some time, but she's enjoyed her Kindle experience.  Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to kick things off right on my e-reader, so I downloaded a Raymond Chandler novel, Farewell My Lovely.  I also DLed With the Old Breed on Pelileu and Okinawa by Dr. Sledge(hammer).  Already about 1/3 of the way through that one.  Great read, that.

Happy belated birthday! I hope you enjoy your E-reader half as much as Lou and I enjoy ours!

Middle of "nowhere"? Could that be me, by chance? I'll have you know I'm in the middle of everything! Right smack, dab in the middle! (Now how do I get back to the edge?).

Honest we did defend St Thomas from any possible Iraqi invasion. In fact we got National Defense Ribbons for our fine job. Not one Iraqi warship came anywhere near the place. I am sure it was the 50 cal on the fantail that did it
