Hi all,

Best wishes Martin - fingers crossed!

BTW, is there a job for you with civilian airlines for example?

Would that be OK?

Leo "Apollo11"

I'm not sure on the situation there, to do the job I do now requires various licenses which cost a fair bit of money. There's no guarantee that there's a job at the end of it so I'm reluctant to spend large amounts of money that is possibly going straight down the drain.

The next step is to get into contact with companies and find out how my current skills etc would transfer across to their work and what courses etc I can do that will help my chances. Will I get a job, well they are out there. Just not sure exactly what sector it's going to be in.

Interesting.....so are there any other Korean forms besides Tae Kwon Do and these two new ones I've just learned about? (Kendo and Tang Soo Do)

Kendo is very definitely Japanese. It's THE classical sword martial art of Japan. Tae Kwon Do is Korean. I would say that Tang Soo Do is more akin to some of the Japanese styles of Karate than is TKD. I'm biased, of course, but TSD is much more of a balanced martial art than is Tae Kwon Do, which is so very reliant on kicks / leg techniques.

Why would Tae Kwon Do be so leg oriented?

Leo "Apollo11"

Not as good as i'd like them to be. I found out last week that I will definatley not be going beyond part time at my job, in fact things have been SO slow since i came onboard that i fully expect to be laid off soon. Despite the whole "no money" thing, it'd almost be a relief at this point.....i hate sitting around my desk feeling useless. Nothing much else i can do. Previously I had been very pro-active in trying to take on new tasks and responsibilities......all this earned me was a "talking too" by the IT site manager who felt i was coming off with a sense of entitlement.

hello?! As i explained, wanting to help make their jobs easier is not entitlement, it's wanting to be useful, especially when i can't even help with small stuff.

Lesson learned however. Now i just sit in my cubie, waiting for tasks. If nothing else, job is on my resume. I can use it for the eventual move forward. (i hope it's "forward" at least, as opposed to backwards)

I don't really know the history or the modern adaptation of Tae Kwon Do very well, Mynok. It could be that only the leg aspect has really taken hold in popular culture and the martial art has adapted to it. It could be that that's always the way it's been (Aikido has more disarming / joint locks techniques versus hard 'linear' Karate strikes-always been that way) for some adaptational reason.

Table top. Appear to be also in Vassal. Heard it is missing some components in Vassal.

Quality age - but then aren't they all - every year brings new things, walking, talking, their own little personality's developing, supporting Tottenham Hotspur, playing wargames with daddy? - fantastic!! Hope your boy enjoyed the day!

I had just heard. So I'm probably wrong, as usual. I hope it works. Some Vassal games do have missing components. 'Carrier' is one I have used. Some pieces were missing. It still worked. I'll have give another try. I think that one has a new module. To busy in WitP-AE lately to try Vassal.

well the reviews for Duke Nukem Forever are certainly not kind. Someday i'll have to try it when i have a modern system again.

Guess one can't be too suprised given the 15 year development cycle.....its the Cyber equivilent to Axl Rose's "Chinese Democracy" album for "Guns n Roses"

Thanks for all of the kind words.  He and mom have a lot of fun all day long, just wish there was more time in the day to see him when I get home.  Love every minute of it.  Hopefully he will like to play war games and golf, two of his mother's least favorite activities.
