The one on the far right is really jummy!

+1 if you'd used the correct spelling

She doesn't care, as I speak her language and you don't

Oh really? I'm British so therefore cannot speak a foreign language? That is an unfair assumption, like me saying German sat navs only go to Poland

My German may be a bit rusty, but (a) I speak enough to make myself understood and (b) my German is just bad enough for girls (or ladies) to find it interesting It's been 10 years since I really used any German aside from asking for verious stuff at Frankfurt airport.

EDIT: Plus I get bonus points for making an effort to tell the fraulein "Sie haben schöne augen"

Yes, that's unfair! Our sat navs only go to Poland and France!

But you still have to proove that your German is better than my english, which you mock around from time to time...

Good morning Eric.

We still have a lot of jokes about France, like: "I just go to France in or on chains!" or "Why did they plant so manny alleys in France? That German soldiers can march in the shaddows"

But I'm pretty sure you have the same about us, don't you?

Please allow me to hijack your thread for a moment to make an observation:

The young lady on the right is absolutely flippin gorgeous!

Being old fashioned, I thoroughly dislike seeing ladies drinking pints, but suddenly I do not seem to mind. They have nice jugs too

I meant the beer jugs.....of course!!

I never said my German was better than your English, mostly because it's not, but you said I didn't speak her language (assuming that she does speak German) when I fact I can. I may not be fluent but I can get by, especially if I'm asking for directions to the station or for a ham sandwich. I've almost totally gorgetten all the der/die/das words though.

Also, unlike many of my classmates I knew the difference between asking for cherries and asking for a church I wanted to do A-level German, but there wasn't enough interest for the school to teach it.

P.S. If I was being childish I'd point out that I should prove my German is better .

I too can get by in German (and Dutch), but I think Eric is missing the point. When they win a big one, they get to pick the language that everyone has to speak...

ps - I have alway thought German girls are hot, but they all look they can drink more than me!

You even speak bavarian? I'm impressed!

And let's all be happy that the Oktoberfest is in Germany. In the US, our four cuties wouldn't be allowed to drink any beer yet. Also, they wouldn't get glasses that size (what a shame!).

Title of the Moment: The Terrible Ones, written by Valerie Moolman. Published in May 1966. Our Hero ponders the question: How do beautiful women come to be know as "The Terrible Ones". Not that he did not have enough to do. The Chinese were not in Dominica to sun themselves or Operation Blast was not a nickname of drinking contest. Dictator Trujill's last joke had been to leave a hundred million dollars in gold and jewels buried somewhere on the island and it was hidden right under everyone's noses.

Lacy stuff a size too small, stockings, and a Maxim machinegun. This can be interesting.

Hi all,

Hello Mike!

How is in USA? Fall already there?

Leo "Apollo11"

Good afternoon, Leo! In our part of the country, it is still quite warm with temps in the upper 80's to low 90's F, but the humidity levels are way down, making it very pleasant to be outside. It's Fall in many of the northern parts of the country, but not really for a few more weeks here.

Are things getting back to normal yet after the flooding there?

We are in the mid 20's (degrees Centigrade) during the day but nights are quite fresh (just 5-6 degrees Centigrade)!

The water is slowly receding bu, unfortunately, more rain is predicted for the weekend...

It's debatable if they'd get anything close to German beer if they were old enough anyway

Morning tithe.....man did i have a "Someone is WRONG on the Internet" moment yesterday. Reminds me of my young rabble rouser days back in the 90's.

I liked taking German. I was much better at it vs. Spanish. I hope to "someday" do Rosetta Stone and learn either it or Japanese. Agree in the masculine/male/female designations for nouns in Deutch. Never understood it but IIRC its not unique to it. Spanish too has such i think. Biggest challenge for me is my impaired hearing. Not sure if i can learn a language with the handicap and i can't afford hearing aids thx to the wonderful medical benefits the US enjoys today.
