One has to be informed...

But I do read NYT and Guardian - the rest I just browse (and if something catches my eye I sometimes post here)...

BTW, how is your life going on Kristian?

Any luck in job hunt lately?

Still playing some interesting games?

Oh, I'll be fine. I have deer hunting at the being of November. That'll release any frustrations I may have harbored.

Early morning tithe (0500)...

Big day at medical centre yesterday, so flaked-out early, and have woke early. Still very dark our, as sunrise is not till 0720. But looks a bit cool out this morning, 5.6C, and think I heard rain overnight (maybe).

I don't think I can shoot any this winter. They wag their tails every time I go down to the farm now... and they don't really run away...

I can harvest two this year. Could have put in for more, but two should do just fine. We do have to work for them though. Push them out of the shelter belts, willows (which are pretty soggy in some areas, blecchh!) and river bottoms. Overall, a great time wether we get them or not. I think me a buddie will run out to another friends farm and site in the rifles. And just for kicks bring out the AK and SKS.

JeffK you should give a try anyway. Feels good just to get out for a day or two without a care in the world.

I think I'll bust out of early today and get some yard work done. Beautiful autumn day. And Fighting Sioux hockey tonight and Saturday. They be at U. of Wisconsin Badgers.
I sure hope it's televised.

Harley was begging to go out this morning. Crisp, clear, just a bracing day for a ride. So put on a few miles. Coming back, stopped at the Grand Hotel for some lunch. Valet guys didn't know what to do with it, so we just parked it next the kiosk. I like this motorcycle stuff.

But no mention of Beaudy, erm the beast warrior. Just a manifestation of the selfish homo sapien perspective I mentioned earlier.

Beaudy needed some alone time with the neighbor poodle, hence the roommate's excursion.

Poodle's name is Molly. She's got no uteris, Beaudy's got no newts. Backyard pals. Perfect couple. Molly's human is Shaun who is an FBI guy and a serious bike rider himself. Two of us ride together a lot and terrorize the neighborhood with the sounds of Harleys with Vance & Hines pipes burbling that sweet, sweet, sound of thunder, and feelin 'o power 'tween yo legs.

What kinda cool is that? A special agent of the FBI as your backyard neighbor who has dogs and bikes and likes to go riding? Woof !!

[ed] Gotta take the boy sailing.

well thats good news at least. So was there an official announcement or do you just "know" that the end is near?

There will be one later today according to my boss, who accidentally let it slip. I've seen it coming for a while and have been doing some work on the matter. But....in this economy, only the Good Lord can guarantee a job.

Fingers crossed for you.

ah......a fellow geek.

I'm hoping someday when i grow up they'll yet me play with the servers.

That's pretty much what I've done all my career. Much more UNIX flavors than Windows ones.

There should always be a place for IT man with experience with UNIX...

BTW, did you "play" with LINUX as well (many smaller companies rely on LINUX for servers)?

I have 5 servers in my company (I am the one and only IT) - 2 are LINUX and 3 are Windows...

Leo "Apollo11"

Sure. We ran Red Hat Linux servers for our Domino email. Ran Linux on my home box for a while too. I also designed and maintained custom OpenBSD and then FreeBSD email spam filters.

I like the BSDs a lot for server work.

Got pinged already from a company on monster. I really hope to be able to join the software company we used to use at work. Already know their product and their people, so it would be a good fit. Plus, could probably work from home. Wish me luck.
