Admiral PJ pithily asks the Army Commander Berg if they require Navy fighters in China, as the appear to be having problems, commenting "If you've got a problem yo i'll solve it".

In the meantime, we'll take the lions share of support for South Pacific operations. Regarding the negotiations with the Army, please execute one of the negotiators as the fact that the merchant marine consists of ships = NAVY seems to have slipped them by.

Quiet day on the front. The NAVY commanded conquest of Sumatra continues, with the Imperial Guards Division being given orders to shock attack Benkoelen. A division has arrived in Djambi and 2 more are on the way. Allied defense at Djambi is about 200AV. It will fall within the week.

Long Live the Emperor

The Army wishes to remind the Navy that all formal notifications be written on a piece of paper, formed into a wad and then thrown at an Army officer.  Until that happens, the Army refuses to acknowledge anything from the Navy.

The Army wishes to nofity that the Navy (and this is being written on paper and formed into a wad) that 80% of the combat troops are in fact Army.  The fact that we have to rely upon the Navy is a regrettable fact of war.  One that will be fixed in the future.

The Army agrees with the lion share of support for Sopac, but wishes to notify the Navy that if adequate support isn't transferred to Burma quickly, then Sopac is for naught and the majority of what is being sent will be wasted and transferred back.

The Army also wishes to notify the Navy to finish the Sumatra attack.  It's taking up too many resources and too much time.  If the Navy wishes the Army to take over command of this operation, the Army is open to the suggestion :0

China Sitrep Report, Northern Theatre, April 4th 1942....

A small conference room with a table far too large for it. A large, overweight general, sweating profusely and dabbing at his sweat with a handkerchief, sits at the head of it. The table is filled with officers.

General: "What's the situation in the north?"
Lackey: "Our troops are moving to isolate Sinning and threaten envelopment of Lanchow"
General: "Why has it taken so long?"
Lackey: "Daily bombardments against our troops has slowed movement, plus China is big"
General: "Ya ya ya, I know, and there's a lot of chinese"
Lackey: "The 36th Div, with the Mongolian HQ, plus regimental support, will be moving in Sinning within the month"
Lackey #2: "Yes, we are dropping pamphlets about the 2nd coming of Genguis Khan. We are hoping that will help"

(groaning sounds, more dabbing, slight cough)

General: "Hows the offensive against Sian?"
Lackey: "Ummm"
Lackey #2: "No progress Sir"
General: "Any plans?"
Lackey: "Not at the moment, we'll send you a memo when we come up with one"

(pronounced wheezing)

China Sitrep Report, Middle Theatre, April 4th 1942....

General: "Tell me about Operation Ichi-Go Go Baby...first who named this operation?"
Lackey: "The Navy Sir (winks at lackey #2)
Lackey: "We are moving troops simultaneously to Changsha, Siangtan and Hengyang"
Lackey #2: "We have high hopes our troops won't be annihilated crossing the river"
General: "And why are we not threatening movements to these cities and moving some divisions to open up the south?"
Lackey: no response
Lackey #2: "The Navy told us to do this"

(lots of coughing, holds hand over heart in obvious pain)

General: (Barely audible) "And the south?"
Lackey: "Our troops will be moving on Kweilen within a couple of weeks in an attempt to isolate Luichow"
General: "Do we have enough troops to do this?"
Lackey: "umm...probably not Sir, but we have high hopes!"

(moans in pain, falls back in chair, calls for a medic)

Lackey: "What should we do?"
Lackey #2: "Request a new general?"

Sumatra Sitrep Report, Army Sub-Command Meeting, April 4th 1942

A young, dashing General enters a highly adorned room in Singapore, formerly Britsh, it still has British pictures and emblems of British *former* world dominance scattered throughout the room.

General: "Army High Command wishes an updated on the situation. I understand that the Navy is commanding this operation, so speak freely"
Lieutenant: "Well Sir, Army Nav Search out of Sabang spoted the Royal Navy only 100 miles off shore yesterday"
General: "100 miles, why so close"
Lieutenant: "We don't really know how to find the allies at sea, sir. We fly out and look for something on the surface, but it's usually a whale."
Lieutenant #2: "And it's a big ocean"
General: "Where's the Navy search?"
Lieutenant: "Sopac Sir"
General: "And then what happened?"
Lieutenant: "The Royal Navy bombarded the port today. They hit the airbase pretty hard."
General: "I thought there were carriers in Singapore. Why didn't they sortie?"
Lieutenant: "A sake shipment arrived from Japan."

(dabbing at sweat)

Memo to yet undetermined Operational Commander of China, April 6th 1942....

To whom it may concern

A large force of chinese, approximately 8 full strength corps, moved south to reinforce Liuchow are were intercepted by elements of the 104th division north of Liuchow. The commander, after requesting sake for his troops, issued a Banzai attack which had the following effect:

Japanese Shock attack

Defending force 82617 troops, 312 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 2300

Japanese adjusted assault: 10

Allied adjusted defense: 620

Japanese ground losses:

87th Chinese Corps
18th Chinese Corps
53rd Chinese Corps
94th Chinese Corps
6th War Area
20th Group Army
32nd Group Army
7th Artillery Regiment

Though the commander has been sent a cerimonial sword and dagger in lieu of being relieved of command, it did have the effect of causing the chinese to retreat. I believe that this is more due to the daily air attacks that have caused significant damage to his troops, plus the detection on their part of the initial movements of operation ichi-go-go-baby.

Ki-48-Ib Lily x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-21-Ic Sally: 2 damaged

Also attacking 18th Chinese Corps ...

Please also note that units in Liuchow are retreating. If the chinese knew our exact force dispositions, they wouldn't be so inclined to retreat, but it looks like our movements toward Kweilen are having an effect. We are happy to take territory without a fight

Memo to Army High Command, Timor Theatre, April 6th, 1942....

This is to inform you that the Navy has given control of this operation to the Army. They Navy has given us a large squadron of zeroes, with 2 squadrons of netties to support the operation.

The allies seem to want to fight. That is in our favor in our opinion. Please look at attached force disposition layout.

In a few days, more AF units and engineers will be coming to the area to support operations. Also, note that a surface TF will be bombarding Darwin within a few days. Also, we are making a quick invasion at port hedlend. The allies believe that our amphib bonus ends in April. It should come as a shock to them that it ends in May. This should play into our advantage. If we are wrong on this, someone please let us know, though it won't change our plans :)

April 10th, 1942....Middle China Theatre sitrep report

Operation Ichi-go-go (named officially changed by the Army) is successful. Japanese units crossed the river into Siangtang on April 9th and after 2 days of heavy fighting have secured the city. 1 of the 6 divisions are moving West to Shaoyang. 1 small combat unit is moving northeast to cut off Changsha. The plan is to hold our gains if possible and wait for Changsha to starve. 4 divisions are in Changsha awaiting the attack order. Our air attacks on Hengyang (a diversion to get him thinking the attack was there) is getting some attention as the chinese have moved a unit of air-cobras into Changsha. Our Oscars will sweep them out of the skies and the air bombardments will continue against Hengyang.

In the south, our forces are getting the upper hand in Luichow. A large Chinese force has retreated north because of our aerial bombardments.

Word has it that the navy has captured Benkoelen. 4 Allied units, including 2 brigades surrendered.

Operation Ichi-go-go Update...April 13th, 1942.

Memo: The operation is in full gear and the chinese are in retreat from both Changsha and Hengyang. The chinese see the danger of the 14 units in Changsha from being completely cutoff and are retreating some or all of them northwest out of the city. We have reinforcements moving to changsha to expedite their departure. Our overwhelming air power is consistently doing 400-500 casualties to units in both Changsha and Hengyang.

All told, the operation so far is a success. End Memo.

Lackey #1: Do you think that high command will be able to understand this map with all the lines?
Lackey #2: No, but your name is on the memo.

Lackey#1: Where's the map?
