I have a rather strange bug on my hands I have never encountered before.

It is Dec 20th, 1941, playing Japan against Allied AI. I have an amphibious tf that tries to invade Palembang during the turn. However, it encounters a PT boat tf the AI moved to Palembang. The PT boats are reported as "attempting to get underway" when the invasion tf arrives, and both tfs try to evade combat. Neither side ends up engaging. Both sides withdraw from the action, and my amphib tf says it is retreating to Saigon, its home port.

The strange part is that after the end of the turn, the amphib tf is no longer anywhere near Palembang. The tf seems to have been teleported to the home port Saigon after the naval action. It does not show any signs of running at full speed, has not used any sizable quantity of fuel, and I don't believe an invasion tf with slow transports could have made it back to Saigon from Palembang in only one movement phase.

Turn file:

Same thing happened to me. I was also trying to invade Palembang, my minesweeper TF encountered PT boats and retreated, and next turn whole TF was in Camranh Bay.
I had all my TFs in the same hex close to Palembang on previous turn, CV TF, surface combat TF, amphibious TF and probably some more. What I did was creating new MSW TF from existing ones and shuffling of some ships around TFs, so TF numbers might have been mixed and maybe that confused game engine.
Anyway, that MSW TF should not have been able to cover few hexes towards Palembang, engage in surface combat with PTs and teleport back over 30 hexes to CRB.

I have saves for both previous and after turns if needed.

What Djordje describes is very similar to what happened in my PBEM game, 19 Dec 41 turn (using 1.0.4.1106i). Japanese TF 13 with a CL and 4 DDs is escorting an invasion TF to Palembang. Encounters two Allied TK TFs at Palembang and engages them in daylight surface combat. I have trouble finding the TF -- because it's back at Cam Ranh Bay! Low on ammo, but otherwise in great shape.

I have the turn if anybody wants to look at it.

Quite a while ago, as Allies in a PBM I had a TF fleeing combat from Palembang that disappeared sort of off-map. It wasn't really in an off-map state like with off-map movement, but it was no longer on the map although it did appear on some displays.

Michael found a bug and fixed it, and reran the turn with the fix. The TF did not disappear and we went on happily ever after.

There might still be some special weird cases, so all the saves you can provide him with that show the problem happening would be very helpful for him.

PS: I am also suspecting that if he didn't make the earlier fix then your TFs might have flat out disappeared like mine did!

If all occurrences happened in Palembang, it could actually indicate, that there is error on map, in that hex.

Maybe automatic adding first-turn-movement-bonus?

Or too much oil wells in hex overclocks some value, because it uses only 9 bits?

The save is from 1106g.
As mentioned there has been fixes made in the betas.
Why not try the turn under the current beta?
