Does anyone still use the old computer world in flames program? If so, have you encountered any "access violations" in the module "WIF.exe"? I'm trying to figure out why I'm getting that error and what it means. Reloading the game doesn't seem to help...

I've received access violation errors with both Windows XP and Windows 7. Always on the French turn, too.

I am not sure then. Windows XP shouldn't have problems. If you are using one of the CWIF beta copies that might be the reason. ADG is selling a more polished version of CWIF on their website - at a low price.

Alyosh was asking about CWIF - the old ADG program.

Hmm...I'm not sure why I'm running into problems, then.  Well, it's happened in two games so far.  My brothers and I were hoping to be able to use this program for hotseat until MWif came out; small kids = no tabletop wif

I purchased this off the ADG website in about 2006, by the way. I'm hoping that the $5 discount on MWif will still work whenever it's released

'Access Violation' crashes are a hazard of the beta. Unit set-up and the Vichy procedure are the two biggest problem areas, and on rare occasions using the mouse wheel to scroll over Persia does it also. Sometimes you can keep clicking menu options or activate the debugger and it will magically fix itself, but usually you have to shutdown and reload your last save. Frequent saves are your only recourse (especially around Vichy).

So ADG might have sold me a beta when there was a fully functional game available? That's more than a little upsetting.

A fully functional game available ? Tell me where.
I belive that what you bought is the only game that exist, there is no fully functional game available anywhere.

The only lack of functionality in the version for purchase is the removal of the 'debug' setting. Before that, the version that was available for free allowed you to select and place units wherever you like, make unlimited war or alliances, set the results of dice rolls, etc. In terms of stability, I assume both versions are equally poor.
