Hi all, i just purchased this game and it seems very intresting.
I begun playing the Eagle day 1940, 1 week scenario as Germany.
I flew the morning sorties, and i saw my early mistakes... :)

But anyway im concerned about the recon missions. All the recon planes (except the formidable Ju-86) got intercepted by the british and all got downed or damaged. at this rates in few days i will lose all my recon planes. How have i to menage these missions to avoid so high losses?

Thank you, Alessandro

I usually reserve the pre-strike and post-strike missions for the Me-110's and the Ju-86's as they either have the speed or the altitude to avoid British fighters.  The slower birds I mix in with the days raids as the fighters will usually go after the bombers and you can then use them to scout the next day's targets.

I will try it.

I tried to give to the AI the menagement of the recce missions, it does better, fewer losses, but always too mutch for me.
The AI put them at the highest ceiling, but the manual says that the recon will have a greater possibility to survive flying very low (400 feet). I will try this too.

Thank you

Where does it say that?

Manual (print) page 29:
"Flying under radar has its advantages and disadvantages. Recons, night intruders, and small
fighter sweeps have the best opportunity to fly under radar. They can reach their target, do
their business, and be off before the enemy can do much about it."

Under 500 feet you risk flying into the ground. Weather and sub-optimal light make this more hazardous. Whilst you will be under the radar, once you are spotted, you are spotted. I need to go over that code again to see if there is a time-limit on a non-radar contact.

Ok, I tried the Nelmsm suggestions and works very well.
The Ju-88D1 works too in the pre attacks recon (even if sometimes got damaged), due his good speed.
Thank you, Alessandro

Change the aircraft type of your Do17 squadrons into Ju86's.

... and remember that Recon planes allow for up to 4 additional photos once they have reached the original target. That way you can easily max. the usage of each mission if you guide them to additional targets on their outbound leg on the way home. However you need to manually plan those mission. The staff will not provide with that benefit.
I actually do plan *all* my recon missions manually.
