Indicators and Warnings
Air recon of Sydney indicates around 100 vessels in port, and the airfields crammed with fighters. This, plus a full NE coast at Townsville is giving us the heebie jeebies. Our forces will converge on this area.

In Burma we also detect enemy forces moving inland from the coast and the unit count at Akyab goes down.

Subs

ASW attack near Palm Island at 92,143

Japanese Ships
SS I-171, hits 11 [light-moderate damage, she will stay on station]

Allied Ships
DD Dewey

Burma
We hit Akyab.

Apart from Columbo no enemy shipping has beed detected. Our CV's are going to move to the DEI.

The 4th Div has arrived from Java and will move forward to its battle positions.

DEI
Creating some SCTF for ready reaction duties.

The 100 Sally's used for the attacks on Bandoeng will prepare to move east.

OZ
The NW and West coasts are very quiet, the East and NE coast is very busy.

Pacific
Our forces will prepare to concentrate.

China

It looks like the two threat axis are shping up to be NORPAC and SWPAC. We will largely ignore NORPAC, we are strengthing garrisons and upping supply levels, but plan nothing offensively at the moment.

In Burma the threat will now come inland, but not for a while, and we are now "set" enough.

If pilot quality is relatively equal, Oscars vs Hurricanes is usually a losing proposition, especially if the Hurricanes are on CAP. After a turn like yours, I'm praying for those Tojo to hurry up and get into production.

20 Jul 1942 They give up the air battle over Burma... So a very dull turn!

Indicators and Warnings

Subs

Burma
The enemy do not fly over Burma. Our fatigue is low and moreal is high so we will keep flying CAP. I find that groups at high altitude dramatically increase fatigue and get lower morale, so I rotae one unit at high level, and two at low levels. This way, and with range to 1-2 you can keep a 50% CAP going.

You can afford the losses in Zeros over Mandalay. I would use Oscars only to CAP a friendly base and no more offensive air missions. You need to force the Allies into a battle of air attrition.

Thanks NY59 giants. We only have A6M3 units in Burma, and the Oscars. All are capping over our own bases... but as we are keeping Akyab supressed we are using about 40-50 Oscar escorting the bombers. We are trying not to increase our production of these two classes or aircraft as the Tojo is now a month away, and the A6M3 can only be used by land based aircraft, so wim aim tomove to A6M3a.

01 August 1942 Quiete in the air war in Burma

Indicators and Warnings
Enemy movement of troops from Akyab detectecd. No other major troop movements in India detected.

Subs

Burma

A day of no attacks. our fighter groups need to rest, so next turn they will go to 10% CAP. Getting 4-5 Oscar a day, but need about 40-50 aircraft. Tojo only a month away though...

FT TF going to Ketapang, one of teo remainding Dutch bases.

OZ
Hiting Darwin as usual. We own the north part of OZ, less Darwin and Wyndham. Digging in nicely at Broome and Port Hedland.

Towsville incraese its air capacity again.

Pacific
We are about to start thining out in Pago Pago, followed by Fiji. Suva is level 6 forts, Nadi 5.

Overall Economy

Very happy with our we are stripping resources back to Japan, huge stockpiles building up. Oil is being shipped back nicely too. Our fuel is mosting being shipped to the SWPAC (330k in Rabaul, 150k in Truk) and the DEI to support operations. We are starting to cut over more of the tankers to move fuel to Japan.

Palembang Port throughput is still the biggest constraint.

01 August Logistics by theatre.

Burma
140k in Supplies, with a third at Rangoon, a third at Mandalay and the rest on the other bases.

70k in fuel. Fuel is being pulled out by xAK's after they drop off troops/supplies.
18k in resources. These are being stripped by a dedicated convoy a week.
4k in oil. We are now well on top of supply, this is shipped to Singapore in a 3 ship 7950k convoy.

Malaya
30k in supply
130k in resources being sucked out to Japan.
260k fuel, mostly at Singapore being shipped to the SWPAC.
5k Oil, being sucked out to Japan.

Sumatra
50k in supply most in the centre and south where we are digging in.
120k in resources, again most at Palembang.
120k in fuel, 110k at Palembang being sucked out.
30k in Oil, mostly at Palembang, being shipped to Singapore in 2 convoys.

Java
100k in supply (being used to refit the 4 div counter attack force).
40k in resources. Occasionally extra is sent to Japan.
50k Fuel.
50k Oil.

Borneo
Balikpapan and Tarakan mostly being sucked dry.
Miri and Brunei shipping Oil to Vietnam, fuel to Manila (operational reserve).

Rest DEI
Kendari the key hub with a number of feeder convoys to Port Hedland, Boela and Babo
180k Supply
60k Fuel
80k resource (being shipped back to Japana
8k oil (recently sucked dry by a convoy to Japan)

Supply is adequete and slowly building as resource convoys bring more back, which is being distributed out to Timor, Ambon and Merauke.

SWPAC
Rabaul is the key:
140k supply.
340k fuel

Oulying bases, Umboi Island, Finschaven, Tulagi, Guadalcanal all have good supply stocks.

CENTPAC
Pomope, Kusaie Island and Tarawa are the keys. Supply in this area is down a bit and more is being bought in. Resources from Naru being sucked backnicely to Truk.

Palembang - Unless your fuel stockpile there is over 250,000, then you can use 2 Tanker TF with 5 or 6 7950 capacity Tks with 3 escorts (small PB and SC) to run CS convoys between there and Singapore. If needed you can build up Oosthaven and ship it to Batavia. Then, it will migrate to Soerabaja for easier loading. I use Oostahven to pull out supply as not to take up dock space at Palembang.

You can use your AOs if not needed for fleet operations rather than have them be idle.

You have too many Aichi Ha-60 factories and can convert some over to anther engine type.

Where are your Judy factories?? I see the Jill, but not the Judy (I would convert some of the Val factories over, if needed).

I would steadily expand your late war engines to size 20 to 30 factories as they will quickly fully repair and start adding points towards the magical 100 developmental points to enable them to move forward a month or more.

You put up another post so....
Oil from Miri to Vietnam - I would send it to Manila for later transport to Japan. Oil will get to Vietnam from Singapore and Burma on its own.

Thanks for the comments, see below :)

That is basically what we are doing :) 2 TF transferring fuel, 2 oil to Singapore, also pulling out resources. Pulling out supplies from Oosthaven to Batavia and to Burma... stopped for the moment as we were pulling too much. Didn't think of fuel/oil from Oosthaven though...

quote:

Yep, thats how we have 340k at Rabaul, with another 200k on the water (100k in AO's, their last run, 100k in TKs). We are expecting fleet actions in the SWPAC in the next month or so. We are very happy with our fuel stockpiles.

Yes Tony will change soon...

H'mm good point, I'll talk with Tony. I think I told him to stop as our supply in the HI was very low... that has now improved.

Ok thanks.

I started to to that, but we are sucking so much from Singapore at the moment, and the route to Manila is a bit "Subbie" so we need a bit more and it is currently lower risk.

We have very effectively cut off China, even the airsupply has basically stopped as we have intercepted and shot down:

87 C-47 Skytrain
12 DC-2
13 DC-3
22 Lodestar

Which we think is the bulk of their airtransport that could be used to resupply China.

Below is the recent actions in China.

04 Aug 1942 Mass battles in Burma

Indicators and Warnings
B24 make an apperance over Port Moresby, along with 50 odd B-17. Continued signs the main effort is likely to be in that area. Still unsure of the direction of the thrust.

Subs
We have hunted out most of the subs around the Hoe Islands, there are a number around the SE tip of PNG near Milne Bay, and around Rabaul.

Burma
This turn they hit Magwe. We suspect overall losses are about 1:1, with 12 of our aircraft lost on the ground. Many of the bombers turn back as we manage to do some intercepting.

We are making a max effort next turn, our BBTF will hit Chittagong, I'm hoping he won't expect it as I've had them positioned for a daya, and in previous runs have deliberately not come back quickly... we are also going to raid somewhere else with our 70+ Bombers...

P-38 continue to fair not that well vs single engined aircraft, and Candian Hurricanes? make an appearance...

China
Exploiting our successe from last turn.

We are really suffering in the air over Burma, we lost almost 50 aircraft, but only 12 pilots... looking forward to Tojo production which will probably be double that of Oscar within a month.

But they are suffering as well, at east flying over our territory we aren't loosing many pilots, and as their is no ground assault it doesn't really matter.

In the Home Islands supply is constraining how fast we are repairing aircraft and engines. We have stacks of resources, good supplies of oil now coming in and decent stocks of fuel.

05 Aug 1942 Interesting in India :)

Indicators and Warnings
CV's are detectedin TF at Sydney, the composition indicates the group that we pick up off NZ a few days ago... in addition over 140 ships and hundreds (3-400) of aircraft are detected... we think something is up :)

Brisbane has a group of xAP's in Port and around 200 aircraft.

The focus on Merauke is interesting, but inconclusive. Just points to a main effort in this area, but we are still unsure if they will head to Darwin (worst case for us) or towards Rabaul (best prepared).

Subs
Few sub attacks, most of ours are in ISR rather than hunting mode... theirs have generally retreated back outside of our effective air range... this looks like a sub transiting to/from Perth... which we would like to "touch up".

Sub vs Sub: SS S-39 attacking SS I-5 at 48,146 - near Perth

Japanese Ships
SS I-5, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage [SINKS]
