I will ship in some forces, and scope out Cox's Bazaar.

Allied aircraft losses

Japanese ground losses:
Vehicles lost 6 (2 destroyed, 4 disabled)

Elsewhere we are airlifting in a BF to Mandalay and Oscar now patrol the sky of Central Burma. We have moved in recon are are looking for the base the B-17 are operating from... we will look at a Netty strike to try and get them on the ground...

The regiment has come up to Rangoon and we shock attack with about 500AV next turn. We have been bombing the ground troops every day so they should be fairly heavily disrupted. We have enough supply so we have a good chance of taking it. If we don't I'll have to turn back the 21st Mixed Bde to help out.

They have marched back into the southernmost Burmese base with remnants of forces from Thailand/Victoria Point. I am airlifting in the paras to hold the base...

Malaya
We clean up one batch of the enemy, more to come.

Have DMS coming in to cleaning Singapore of mines.

DEI
Palembag is now clean of mines. This has taken about 5 days and cost three small escorts, and damaged the DMS several times.

Samarinda falls, more troops and supplies are being ferried in then we will attack Balikpapan.

Continue to clean up dot bases, only a few to go now.

Philippines

We rest at clark. Intention is to move everything to Bataan, take the base, clean the mines then load for a Pacific destination...

Pacific
Port Moresby finally falls :)

Ground combat at Port Moresby (98,130)

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 11163 troops, 115 guns, 2 vehicles, Assault Value = 310

Defending force 3873 troops, 74 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 79

Allied adjusted defense: 43

Japanese assault odds: 3 to 1 (fort level 1)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Port Moresby !!!

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), disruption(-), experience(-)
Attacker: shock(+)

Japanese ground losses:
490 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 32 disabled
Non Combat: 2 destroyed, 32 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

Allied ground losses:
1470 casualties reported

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Assaulting units:
53rd Naval Guard Unit
144th Infantry Regiment
82nd Naval Guard Unit
Maizuru 1st SNLF
61st Naval Guard Unit
15th Base Force

Defending units:
Lark Battalion
Port Moresby Brigade
15th RAAF Base Force
Rabaul Det. Base Force

These forces can now be used against targets in North Australia to hide our intent... the 144th Regt is at 1/3rd strength, but we have plenty of supply and a baseforce there already.

KB will be in strike range of a target next turn...

China
Still moving into position and building strength.

A basefore has now arrived at Nanyang, which is a level 4 airfield. Soon the airforce will initiate the destruction of the Chinese airforce on the ground, then focus on the ground war in a push towards Sian.

We are also considering sending forces into southern chinas to seize a base or two on their rail line, which will limit their ability to supply and reinforce sectors.

But we need some more medium bombers.

Subs
a few attacks no bangs. They are trying to interceot our convoys off PM and Balikpapan. They hit an AK off PM with a Dud, but it looks to have dmaged the ship, even without a bang...

Burma
We are reorganising in anticipation of crossing the Irrawady.

We need more engineers and air base units, may have to buy some out.

Also need lots of supply.

We are reconing into India to determine their main bases and tactical dispositions... in anticipation of doing something nasty :)

Malaya
Cleaning up, moving and resting.

We are sweeping Singapore to clear mines. Shipping is on the way... we want to get moving.

DEI
Now advancing on Balikpapan. Starting to distribute fuel and supplies. We need lots of both in the SWPAC.

Philippines
The advance on Bataan has begun.

Pacific
The shattered units from PM have been withdrawn and are on the way back to Rabaul to refit.

PM has a BF and a Guard unit.

KB raids NZ again, hitting the smaller ports in case they have laid up... looks like the ships have fled... we are thinking SE so we will head off in prusuit.

Suva hits level 5 Afld... they have reinforced it...

China
No change.

We are still discussing strategic options for the raiding we want to do, there are several targets... but Fiji looks to be still amoung the top ones... but is already becoming a tougher nut to crack... we want to go in with 4 Divs whereever we go.

In Burma I'd like to launch some large raids via air... looking for suitable targets an collecting the resources to do so.

Cheers

Rob

Burma
All quiet.

asingle ship TF is spotted towards Port Blair...

The Betty's have move to Rangon with an escort of 6 Zero. The Nells are at Chiang Mai. I have an element of the airHQ at Pegu, so both places have torps :)

Building Airfields like crazy and trying to move in BF and supply (a fast Convoy is now just north of Singapore heading in with supply).

Malaya
Destroyed the enemy forces at Kuantan. Only two pockets of resistance to go.

Singapore is now clear of mines and ships are heading in.

DEI
Continue to cean up dot bases, not many to go. Koepang and Ambon still untouched.

Pulling stuff out of Kuching and sending it to Singapore now it is clear. The invasion of Sumatra will now launch from Singapore.

Philippines

Bacolod is being invaded. Only Cebu and Tacloban to go.

Pacific
KB is hunting to the east, before it will head north.

There are now two full units of Zero at Rabaul, although one is about to head to Burma.

PM has 28k in supply, a BF and a battered Naval Guard. Total AV 60 but should climb up towards 100 over time. a Daitai of Betty are based there.

A force is headed to Luganville to deny it to the enemy. A similar force will head to Noumea.

China
North of Wuchow we just can't make headway aginst some troops we have trapped there. The have some "cavalry" on the way and so we are running out of time.

Industry
We increased both Ha 32 (148 with 28 repairing now) and Ha 33 (126 with 104 repairing) and turned Nell production back on as we have some airgroups coming "soon" that need them.

We are sucking down resources to the home islands nicely. Fuel is starting to flow Ok from Brunei and soon Tarakan to the operational locations, but none back to the home island yet.

Burma 06 Feb 1942

Here is the current situation. I'm resting and cleaning up a bit before advancing north... there are no real combat formations in front of me, but I do have to contain those to the rear.

Supply is an issue, as are engineers, both are on the way. I have about 2 divs in the theatre at the moment.

Chiang Mai is my main airbase, although there is an allied unit currently cutting it off to the south. It is about to hit level 5, I intend to build to 6 in the short term.

I'd like to get to Lashio before the Chinese can, but need to clear out Taung Gyi to free up forces to do that.

Basing the air div at Pegu provides coverage to a large number of airbases. I intend to build them all to 4 to provide the ability to shuttle around.

The enemy are in strength at Chittagong. I'm now in a position to begin to isolate from the sea. I can probably launch some paradrop disruption activities in the border soon. Combined with the movement of more fighters and bombers into the area I intend to attempt to weaken them. I would like to go after their 4E aircraft by getting them on the ground.

An option remains for a raid from the sea... but not for at least a month.

Cheers

Rob

SS I-22

Allied Ships
SS Pike, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage

ASW attack near King Island at 79,172

Japanese Ships
SS I-16

Allied Ships
TK British Judge
AM Lark

The tanker contact is nice... it would be good to get mini KB onto this convoy.

Burma

Quiet. Need some more small combat units. Now that the rail north of Singapore is unblocked I'll be able to move stuff to Singapore.

I'm unloading 30k of supplies at Mergui.

The Thai div shock attacks across the river and defeats the 13th Burma Rifles Bn, which flees north. The rail to Chiang Mai is now open again.

Malaya
The 27th Brigade finally surrenders, troops will move to Singapore to load for new targets.

The troops at Kuantan are still loading... I'm tried to cancel the load so they take what they have now...

DEI
Balikpapan falls on the river shock attack. We suffer about 80 oil and 80 refinery loss... Over time we will rebuild the oil capacity, but not the refinery. Need to sweep some mines and bring in a baseforce.

Philipines
We arrive at Bataan... shock attack next turn.

Australia
They have moved in 20+ fighters to Townsville... these could be the P-40E units.

Pacific
During the search phase we pout 2-3 bombs into AS Platypus... then KB launches...

Morning Air attack on TF, near Raoul Island at 128,183

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid spotted at 23 NM, estimated altitude 10,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 9 minutes

xAP Van Diemen, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage

Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Raoul Island at 128,183

Weather in hex: Light cloud

Raid spotted at 30 NM, estimated altitude 13,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 12 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 9
B5N2 Kate x 22

Japanese aircraft losses
B5N2 Kate: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
TK Talang Akar, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAP Rochussen, Bomb hits 7, and is sunk
xAP Hong Kheng, Bomb hits 1, on fire
xAP Van Riebeek, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAP Sin Kheng Seng, Bomb hits 5, and is sunk
xAP Matang, Bomb hits 2, and is sunk
xAKL Morazan, Bomb hits 5, and is sunk

There are several other convoys in the area.

There are now a stack of fighters at Suva... and we detected the CV Tf last turn, and there are ships in port... this is all very juicy but we discuss and decide to sink the 10+xAP's around KB now, rearm/refuel KB then come back to hit Suva...

China
We are making some nice headway killing Chinese squads...

Burma is going well. We have 60 Oscar at Mandalay. And we are builing up a 100 strong Strike force of Netties and a similar number of Zero's.

Soon they will sweep and try to systematically destroy the Allied air force in India.

Supply is moving in as are more troops, in particular engineers and BF.

Surprised to see no fighters at Townsville. This base is safe from non-carrier based aircraft as long as there is a CAP as Zero don't have the range.

I like a fully operational Balikpapan as it fuels my fleet (to and from Truk). Some say ship that Oil to Honshu, but if I have a huge surplus of Oil there already, I'm hoping that the Allies leave those refineries alone late in the game to get a chance of converting the oil to fuel. If I look at Andy's game vs PzB, I can still have Palembang fuel shipped to Honshu while Balikpapan and Java fuel operations in the SRA. I stockpile fuel rather than oil as was the case in WITP.

There are fighters there now :) I think they only just arrived. We have therefore sent the betties elsewhere. The ships in port are fairly banged up for the moment... we may try to come back and get them...

Thanks for the thoughts on fuel, we are about to get into that space more heavily, your thoughts on fuel/oil/resources in the DEI/Philippines are welcome!

09 Feb 1942 - Bataan falls!

Subs
We are hitting lots around Kendari. There are several enemy subs docked in Sorebaya...

This attack really hurts, DWS are precious, and our opponants tend to drop mines everywhere. These were headed to Rangoon. We have moved in some Lily's to provide some ASW protection.

Sub attack near Victoria Point at 49,64

Japanese Ships
DMS W-6, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage SUNK
DMS W-20

Allied Ships
SS Truant

Malaya

All clear. Forces are moving to Singapore and Georgetown. Brining in fuel and supplies and closing the bases on the nth coast of the DEI and bringing those forces in for R&R.

Lots of shipping heading in. Need to take fuel to Truk.

This area will no longer be normally reported.

DEI
In Java they have gone for the mountain defence of Bandoeng... smart move.

The plan will be to land, clear the rest of the island, then starve them out while the main combat units head elsewhere. They pose no threat, but will be an annoyance.

But first comes Palembang. The shipping and troops are gathering at Singapore. 100 Sallies raid each turn hitting the ground troops and casulties are mounting.

Elsewhere Mini KB hits Ambon on its way to the main effort in the Pacific....

Strategic Review
With the taking of Singapore and Bataan it is time for a strategic review.

Back on the first page, second post, we outlined our intent:
quote:

There are two fundamental approaches, a force approach and a terrain approach. In the force approach you bring the enemy to battle and destroy their ability to wage war, then take what land you want. The terrain approach focus on capturing the ground.

We intend the former. We have determined the enemy's centre of gravity is their ability to generate a multi divisional amphibious attack. To stop them doing that we intend to target:

Medium and heavy bombers.
Ground combat units.
Amphib ships.

So far we have failed to engage their medium and heavy bombers. We have neutered their effect though which has enabled us to advance quickly.

We have killed the "standard" ground combat units quite effectively and ruthlessly. We are about to launch on the next stage that aims to kill those units that are beyond "normal".

Amphibs. Here we have done good! We have sunk around 28 xAP, including about 6 big ones... Many more are damaged. If we can keep this up (and we have plans to) then their ability to launch simultaneous multi-divisional attacks will be very limited.

Warships. While not a high priority we have 4BB and 1 BC, 5CA and 10 CL listed as sunk. While these will be replaced we have lost 1 BB, 1 CA, 1 CL. So we have significantly improved our force ratio at the moment, which gives us great fredom of action, in particular in the Pacific.

So what now?

We need to target the 2E and 4E bombers. These are currently concentrated in India, and probably PH (they aren't in Oz). Of these India is viable and an operational plan is underway to achieve that task.

Ground Combat units are more difficult. The enemy has built up Fiji, there are now over 70 fighters there and at least 1 US Regiment, along with arty and probably engineers. This makes it a prime target... An operational plan is in development for this.

Another option is Ceylon/Southern India. But first we have to neuter their aircraft...

Midway is always of interest, it stops a forward sub base... and threatens PH, so they can't commit much forward.

The Aleutions are also an option in about 2 months....

While we look at those options for "smash and grabs" we are now considering our defensive perimeter. To do that we need to "think like the enemy" for a bit...

There are 6 main approaches. Burma, Java/West DEI, Timor Nth PNG, SWPAC, CENTPAC, Aleutions

We have closed off Java/West DEI, Timor, SWPAC for the forseeable future. We intend to continue this by denying Australia as a safe base... for as long as we can.

We can't stop the others... but we can concentrate our defences their first to dig in hard and prepare. Burma is number one priority. Marshalls we will defend at about historic levels... not sure on the Aleutions yet...

Overall we have done good, now to maintain that advantage as long as possible...

Cheers
Rob

Mike's lessons learn and how he is an economics minister.

I have Helen Ia increased to 120 per month as they are my Army ASW planes. They don't get the MAD until later in the war, but they have good range. I want a large stockpile. use most of my 9 and 12 plane Army air units (those that cannot recombine) for ASW only with a few larger sized for critical areas.

Batan Island - place BF x2 and Construction to expand AF to size 4. A large (27 plane) Helen (high ASW and LowN) will go here to patrol the critical Formosa Straits.

Cocos Island - BF x2 and Construction go here to expand AF to size 4. A 12 plane Emily with high Naval Search and NavB experience. You can reach the western map edge and cause some harassment of any transports trying to get to and from Australia from India.

Naha and Amani Osima both have Resources that need some pick up from time to time.

Shanghai to/from Shimonoseki - Resources and return with supply (20K). 12x Kasu-D xAKLs and 3x Kiso PB

Naga - port built up to size 4
Davao - do the same so Resource on Mindanao flow here.
Philippine Archipelago - 5 Resource producing bases have size 2 or slightly larger ports (max docked ships 12k). 3x TF of 7x Daigen xAKLs and 2x To'su PB (11,980) will fit nicely into each and then unload at Naga. Later, a Aden based TF will take them to Honshu.

Miri - the small 1250 size TKs to/from Singapore and/or Manila.

Palembang - 2x TF of your 7950 size TKs to/from Singapore with 3 SC/PB (keep total size below 48k to allow docking). They will be busy for months and months.

Port Hedland & Koepang - build ports to size 4. Then 2x TF of 15x Gozan xAKs and 3x PB as CS convoys (ship in some fuel to Koepang). I expand over to Exmouth as a buffer for any counter-invasion coming this way later in the war.

Boela & Babo - expand ports to size 3. A TF with 6x size 1250 TKs and 2 Kiso PB to/from Babeldoab to pick up oil.

Balikpapan, Makassar, Koepang, and Boela - I use a few TF with 10x Aden and 2 Ansyu PBs to/from Honshu. Again, under 48k to allow docking. Occasional return with supply.

Tulagi and Nauru Island - build up AF to size 2. Allows those short legged Vals (17 hexes) to get to/from Solomons and Marshalls instead of the long way through Truk.

A single BF at Ponape and Woleai to allow short legged planes to get to and through Truk from each direction.

I hope this was helpful.

Try setting your CAP in Burma in a Hi/Lo manner. The Oscars at 20k (or 15k) and the Zeros at 31k. This way your better plane may get a bounce if his fighters go after the Oscars. You should get a few easy kills if his fighters are at a lower setting than the Zero.

Some of your large BF and large AA units come with or can upgrade to radar. Make sure you have some in Burma.

Glad to share my hard earned knowledge on economic issues. Most of the transport issues around the Home Islands were addressed by Mike Solli just after the game came out and his spreadsheet is a must for it.

Thanks Yes I use CAP that way, in the game against Joe and NIk the P-39 were on low, Hurricans and P-40E high... and it worked very well.

We have 40 Oscar and 20 Zero at Mandalay now... but I suspect they will lick their wounds... a pity as we aren't ready yet for our air offensive, and the more we attrit over our lines the better :)

I'm going to set up an Oscar and Zero unit as a training sqn to the rear, and suck individual pilots forward as they become trained. This is different to how I have played as Allies...

I'm looking for those BF... trying to get stuff forward now.

I think I will set up Tavoy as the main inport/export point. These means using smaller ships and smaller convoys, but the risk is far less. Maybe we will also build Moulmein over time and base a SCTF there...

Getting enough stuff into Akyab is going to be a challenge... it is very attractive, but the military geography favours the allies unless we can have sea control... which means we need to create air control over that area. To do that we need more BF and supplies...

The invasion forces at Singapore are gathering nicely... andother couple of turns and we will be away.

I'll have to look at that spreadsheet by Mike (any hints on where to find it?). I plan to post about our convoys soon, I'm still getting used to the changes in resources, but overall happy that we are getting them home nicely, but there are lots of ships still to task!

Cheers

Rob

we are now up to the 17 Feb, too busy to fully catch up...

Subs
We have gotten some transports around the west coast and on the way to Hawaii.

They hit a CA going into Balikpapan... its light-moderate damage.

Burma

I have airlifted in about half a regiment, some air support and supplies to Akyab. Supply is now unloading from a convoy under a heavy effort of local CAP, and LRCAP from three sources... lets see how they hold up...

They tried hitting Mandalay with B17D and AVG... they largely lost.

More AA, engineers and BF but most importantly supply has arrived in Burma.

Rangoon has good levels of supply and more units and supply is on the way in. Have around 200 fighters and 100 Netties in the area... the later will strike in a couple of days....

The Chinese have been detected, they did not get into Burma and are in defensive positions at the start of the mountains... I'll just watch for the time being...

We destroyed the Burma Bn around Chiang Mai and the rail line is secure... and our Thais receieved some experiance.

The last elements of the Burmese from Rangoon tried to break through but were soundly beaten and fled back to the swamp near Rangoon.

Some other units are caught near Lashio... they will be rounded up soon.

I'm about to try the first spoiling attack on Kohima, intel suggest just a engineer unit...Netties will bomb and the Paras will drop... hopefully he is focused against Akyab...

They have 14 units at Chittagong, and I think the border area is lightly held...

DEI
We land at take Palembang almost undamaged thankfully... Lots of air bombardment for almost two weeks helped... maybe!

We are about to land in Nth Sumatra and at Makassar.

We have landed at Ambon, but are finding it tough going.

Dili is about to hit Level 3 airfield...

Philippines
After spending days clearing mines we have almost fully loaded the units at Bataan for Rabaul.

Pacific

We were hit badly by B17E from Townsville at PM... not much we can do, but it is a long flight and they have already lost an aircraft... and while they are hitting PM we are free elsewhere.

We are fighting at Lae and Buna.

Tulagi is now level 2 airfield and is a nice forward base.

KB is rearmed and refueled and is off hunting bear...

We need more fuel, it is now starting to flow in quantity... but is restricting us at the moment.

China
Mostly quiet, except where I've attacked to the western route to Sian up the dirt road... the main aim is to badly damage units, so I have a secure flank, and I can then turn back to the main effort (where I'm building force). At the moment he is at the end of a longish supply line from Sian... I have built Nanyang and have plenty of supply... I'm growing stronger, he weaker, and once the flanks are secure I'll again concentrate... and attack.

Around Kukong in the south I'm waiting for another 300AV to turn up...

Increased Helen production to around 60 a month.

We have lots of resources in the home islands, and our longer supply convoys are starting to move... but Oil/fuel is the biggest problem.

Cheers

Rob

I'll wait a few days to assess what next. Lots of units are detected moving out of Burma through the mountains.

If I can get the 6k of supply ashore at Akyab I can move in 40 Oscars. I have about 2/3rds of a regiment there now, 12 Oscars, and 40 AV support (part of an air div HQ).

Elsewhere we beat up some burma battalions.

DEI
The base next to Palembang falls, they retreat due east, and not towards Oosthaven. Our forces are advancing to clear them.

We continue to land Makassar.

Ambon falls!

Pacific

They hammer PM, Lae falls. Buna requires more force.

KB is supporting the invasion force towards Noumea.

Around 200k of fuel (100k from the home islands, 100k from the DEI) is inbound.

China
I try following up the attack last turn with an armoured car company. It doesn't work!

Akyab is going OK so far... we don't expect it to last but we want them to attack over our bases, before we launch on theirs... which is coming soon.

We will try to get an engineer unit in there... but we don't want to comit too much.

Otherwise we are begining to move into garrisons, supply is now reasonable and more forces are on the way. Shipping out resources at the moment... gotta make the conquest pay!

Toungoo will eventually be a major base and defensive location, one of the few in difficult terrain.

SWPAC 20 Feb 1942

Horn Island and Buna are the last two places to take here.

Tulagi is turning into a useful location, has 150 Eng working away on the airfield at the moment in support of operations in the area. They hav discovered this and have a numbers of subs operating in the area... bastards!

Rabaul is 5 Port, 6 air and has stacks of supply and resonable fuel... combat troops in the area are at a premium.

Darwin is now isolated from the east. Dili is a level 3 airfield and so we can attack under air cover when ever we wish...

20 Feb 1942 China

In the far north we have p[rogressed deep into the desert... mainly totry and force them to garrison the depth...

The thrust line on Sian has moved to the west. We are basically beating up on units and making them defend further spread out... The intent is to then concentrate in the middle again on Sian and punch through with air support...

They look to be advancing on Ichang, we are moving some forces to possibly help out. Ichang is level 3 forts going to 4, and we will apply some airpoer to help out the defenders.

In the south you can see the long line of troops they have spread out. 300 av are on route to help create a hole...

Basically though we are bogged down!

Real life has agin been getting the the way of the AAR, so a quick catch up!

21-24 Feb 1942
Subs
Off Fiji we hit an AO, it didn't sink.

A couple of other minor contacts, nothing significant.

Burma
On the 21st we hurt the B-17D's badly, they haven't returned:
Morning Air attack on 34th Field AA Battalion, at 59,46 (Mandalay)

Weather in hex: Partial cloud

Raid spotted at 30 NM, estimated altitude 12,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 8 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 6
Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 14

Allied aircraft
H81-A3 x 8
B-17D Fortress x 22

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
H81-A3: 3 destroyed
B-17D Fortress: 1 destroyed, 12 damaged

Japanese ground losses:
15 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Guns lost 11 (1 destroyed, 10 disabled)

Our air campaign has launched and on the 23rd and 24th we trashed Chittagong, but they had already moved the aircraft out. Another turn or two and we can switch elsewhere.

We now have almost 8k in supplies at Akyab and have flown in most of an engineer regiment. There are 40+ Oscar. So we are now fairly secure for the moment...

Elsewhere we are cleaning up the remaining pockets of resistance, Troops and supply is flowing in nicely.

DEI
We have most of south Sumatra under control. We have landned in the north and are advancing on Medan.

The Zeros at Palembang have started sweeping the skies of Java... no contact yet.

We are preparing to land on Koepang. Dili is a levele 3 airfield now well on the way to 4.

PACIFIC
We have Lae but not Buna yet.

We have landed at La Foa on New Caledonia are are advancing on Noumea which has not been reinforced.

KB has had two days of bad luck, we are operating between NZ and Fiji, and came across a tanker convoy, whil ethe search aircraft have claimed hits KB hasn't launched due to bad weather, and it looks like they may get away.

Mini KB is off Noumea supporting the landings there.

Auckland has over 21 units, mostly American, and we are looking for the convoy's that bought them in...

We intend isolating Fiji, then landing with 5 divs in about 3 weeks time... There is at least a US regiment at Suva.

China
the attack up the secondary road has gone very well, we are now starting to pull back.

The have fallen back a hex on the Sian road.

They have launched an atack on Ichange... it was close on the first attack (I'm not sure why we are lossing on prep, we are at 100%), the second was because a unit crossed the river. The forts should be level 2 next turn... it looks like supply is the issue for them, we are attacking with max aircraft support to the garrison... I doubt it will hold.

Ground combat at Ichang (83,48)

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 34070 troops, 153 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 1308

Defending force 5896 troops, 27 guns, 8 vehicles, Assault Value = 237

Lay some mines at Akyab before they do. Move (if you haven't done so) some minesweepers to Rangoon.

Thanks, have DMS at Rangoon, but currently mining offensively... but will switch to defensive soon.

26 Feb 1942

Bad weather all over the map continues cancelling many flights and effectively neutering KB :(

Subs

Burma
We sweep Chittagong, but the bombers don't fly. This is very annoying and the baseis recovering... I want to neutralise Chittagong so we can move deeper.

5k in supply at Akyab has vanished... this is both good and bad news... it means the supply has gone back to Burma somewhere, which means it can also come back overland... I increase the supply demand to draw it back.

Akyab is now a level 2 fort.

Otherwise quiet. Staring to consolodate airbases, Mandalay should hit 3 next turn.

DEI
The invasion force for Kendari slips anchor. They have a number of subs in the Balikpapan-Tarakan slot... we are trying to prosecute them while carefully routing them through shallow water.

They sneak in a reoccupy Samarinda, a unit is going back to clear it.

Pacific
Despite several targets KB doesn't really fly... we are catching up on a juicy target though of troops ships and combat vessels...

Morning Air attack on TF, near Pago Pago at 148,161

Weather in hex: Thunderstorms

Raid detected at 119 NM, estimated altitude 10,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 50 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 9
B5N2 Kate x 13

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
xAK Examiner, Torpedo hits 4, and is sunk

B-17 trash PM again...

We are at Noumea and will attack and clear it.

China

We attack near Ankang and are now in the city...

We continue to press towards Sian on the side fronts while we concentrate in the centre...

Cheers
Rob

Looks like we need to bring in more fighters... we need to attrit them to get to the bombers...

A small enemy TF is detected beyond Port Blair, but doesn't show on the end turn... could be a false positive...

DEI

No change

Pacific

The mud at PM is turned over, wrecking the goveners garden.

KB finds nothing.

Interestinly a small enemy TF is detected between Tulagi and Lunganville...

Noumea falls.

We the easy stuff has just about all been taken, now the gritty hard fighting begins, in particular the grind in Southern India.

Cheers

Rob
