I've been heavily involved in computer wargaming from the design aspect for over seven years now and I must say that the level of knowledge and participation has increased enormously. I'm sure the web has a lot to do with that, but still I find it very pleasant to see guys designing battles, asking in depth questions and with a knowledge of military history that is formidable. It did not used to be that way, guys! You are some pretty tough jokers out there. My hat goes off to you! Well done! Pshaw......careful with the praise, WB. We might go all soppy on ya! I've been an avid wargamer since the days of Squad Leader(before they made it more complicated than real life!). Going on 20some years now. Played everything from Sl to Panzer Leader, Wooden Ships/Iron Men to Starship Troopers. Cut my teeth on Risk, got the bug, and been goin' steady ever since. Done some miniature gaming(Napoleonic warfare, BattleMechs, and Civil War). Saw the USNavy version of Harpoon while in service ('85), when it was used onboard as a training tool (being a data sys repairman, got to play it late at night, since the equipment fell under my duty assignment ). Yeah, 'ole Sarge has seen and played alot of games. Still....nuthin' compares to this. Been waitin' 20 years for Squad Leader ta go high-tech, and the wait has sure been worth it. Troops, HAAAAND-saLUUUTE God Bless ya, WB, and yer staff as well.

You're a major part of the community, Bill. When upgrading SP:WAW I always try your battles first, simply because I know I'll get a fun experience with some loops thrown in where I least expect them . But I have to agree, I haven't seen people like on these boards anywhere else on the net. No flamewars, no mention of Nazis, just thoughtful, helpful and sometimes funny discussions. I come in here to take a break from the regular boards sometimes .
