Two questions:

First, do Ion Defense modules stack? I'm assuming not, since there isn't a cumulative stat in the design screen. Also, is an 18 defense against a 20 cannon going to result in a 10% chance of disabling?

Second, is there any way to determine just how efficient your energy collectors are? The 'pedia just says that they are less efficient the further away from the star they are. Does the efficiency drop off linearly? Inverse square? Can we assume a minimum percentage as long as we're near a star?

Ion Defense components do not stack their values - the only reason for more than one of these components is redundancy in the case of damage.

Ion weapons lose power over distance (like most beam, torpedo and area weapons), so an 18 ion defense strength will probably stop most attacks from a 20-point strength ion weapon, unless the ion weapon was fired at point blank range.

For energy collectors, the amount of energy collected is determined by the power output from the system's star (solar + microwave + x-ray) and the distance from the star. The energy drop-off with increasing distance from the star is linear. As long as you are in a star system, gas cloud or restricted zone, there is always a guaranteed minimum amount that your energy collectors will produce (exact value depends on stars energy output).

Thanks for the info!

It'd be nice to be able to see the amount they're pulling in though. :p

But then they'd have to recalibrate the flux coils to accomodate the higher energy throughput of the conduits within the subspace wires :(
