How can you land a regiment on a beach (ennemy controled)?
I think it's possible to create LCVP to send the waves on the beach.
How to do this?

One way is to form a TF with a lot of LCVPs and one or two LSTs (or other transport). Next load up the troops at your friendly base. The LCVPs will load at this point. Next head for you beach. The larger ships will auto refuel the LCVPs and help them get to target. Once there the LCVPs unload very quickly.

Lebillan,

I'm not sure I totally understand your question. 1) Do you mean how do you land any troops on a beach, or 2) how do you land troops using only LCVP's?

If it's 1 then any transport (AP, or AK) carrying troops and is on a transport mission (or DD, and APD's on a fast transport mission) will land the troops at the beach that is thier destination hex. You don't need landing craft, they are assumed to be part of the transport.

If it is #2 then Kid's comments are correct. I would just like to add that that LCVP, and LCM are slow and will slow down the entire convoy, and that can mean more time in range of enemy LBA.

Also the LC do unload faster, mostly because they are so small. And even though you can transport troops on AK, they unload very slow, and I do not recomend using them to land troops as part of an assult landing.

And speaking of AKs, I've seen a message during an assault using AKs that these cannot unload at a non-friendly base hex. Anyone recall this message, and is it bunk?

Use APs, as Gabby suggests.

The only time I have seen the Must unload at friendly base is when I have ships in the TF that are over 50% damaged, then none of the TF will unload. In that case I split the ddamaged ships into seperate TFs.

Something I see sometimes during the turn replay(against the AI) is a message that says "TF XX must unload" This is always an enemy TF. Anyone have any Idea what is causing this message?

You would think the larger AP would unload to the LCVPs and thus to the beach in wave after wave. But instead the LCVPs dump on the beach and the AP just unloads without giving a thought the many LCVPs standing around. :(

LCVPs are not being utilized to their potential by the computer.

Worr, out

Well, as a Japanese player, I only have AP's. No LCI, LCV, or any of the rest of that alphabet soup. I am wondering if different ships have different rates of unloading or is it puerly determined by the size of the port.
