I don't know if this has been addressed somewhere else...but I am having a strange situation with PT boat attacks on small ports.

In my current PBM game I attacked Pt Moresby several turns ago using ten PT-Boats. Through intelligence I knew that there were three Jap cargo ships present. Instead of attacking the enemy my PT boat fleet seems to have turned traitor! On the next turn no attack occurred and my fleet of boats were now red on the map. I was able to access them but they just sat there rather than fighting. The Japanese did not attack them with shore guns or anything else either. They then sailed away and returned to the allied side.

As a test I have just done the same type of attack on Milne Bay and got the same response. Since these ports are under size 3 I should be able to easily attack the ships that are present...or am I missing something? The showing up as a red fleet implies a bug of some kind to me.

I did try searching for this in the database but couldn't find anything.

Pls supply a save?

I don't see how the Allied TF of PT boats could have changed into a Japanese TF.

I was just saying "changing sides" to be amusing.  Something is causing no fight to occur.  I suppose the red fleet marker could be an overlay or something.

As an aside I have also been unable to attack ships by air that are ported in ports under size 3.  I have been just putting this up to small numbers of ships being hard to find from the air...but maybe its related.

I will send the password directly to you if that's ok.

I hope I did that correctly.

I need the turn you sent to for the turn/attack.

I require to follow the turn to see why/how the TF changed to Japanese.
Or the combat replay if you have that.

The reason behind the 'red' TF symbol is that there are also an enemy TF in the same hex. The Allied and Japanese TF symbol are sharing the same location in the hex icons. The Japanese one got in first.

This has not bearing on if TFs can fight.

I played through using the save you provided and the Allied TF attempted to engage the Japanese TF that was present in the hex.

Still would like the replay or turn sent to Japan player to see why PTs didn't engage ships at PM.

I will try to replicate the event in the near future and make copies as I go.

Thanks for looking into this.
