Thanks guys

I have another shipset dilemma, the ships look nice, but who should the belong to? Let me know what you think.

When I started making them I was making them for the Haakonish, which is why I made them brown and bulky looking, brown because the Haakonish colours are brown, and bulky because the Haakonish are bullies. Then I realised with the green on them they are in fact the default coloour scheme of the Atuuk, and I currently have no idea what I'm going to do for Atuuk. But also, I want to make the Ancient Guardians ships a bronze and green colour scheme.

So two questions: Who do you think these ships suit best? Out of general interest what do you think Atuuk ships should look like? I'd be interested to know

They are left to right Construction Ship, Colony Ship and Escort.

My gut says Haakonish.Atuuk should look less advanced.

They look very Haakonish to me. Big brutes that they are.

I think it would be cool for the Atuuk to have a quite basic style, but maybe they could splash slogans and attach things to their ships? Like hunting trophies?

Those definetly look very Haakonish. As others said, Atuuks should look very simple and primitive. Even more so than "crappy" looking Teekans (which look great BTW).

Hi Woodman,
Gotta say, they do look good. I assume you are editing existing ships together via "paint.net". I may be able to host them via my Distant worlds website if you are interested.
Anyway, keep going, I'm sure Elliot is paying close attention to these as they are in the same style, yet different.
Well done.

What amazes me is how well you can make these look with a simple paint program. The look great.

Guess what?

More ships!  v6 now available on front page with Haakonish ships.  I'm using a different site for the DL, please let me know if there are any problems with the download.

+ Happy New Year, anyone else already broke their resolution?

Awesome work woodman!  I actually have a request of sorts....

could you try your hand at making a set out of some of those insect looking green and yellow ships in the extra ships folder.  I think that you could probably do something pretty cool with those ( just a suggestion ).

Wow, that might be difficult.  I'm trying to stick to more gritty realistic colours, so those garish colours might need editing a bit, also the military large and small are exactly the same and the colonyship is only 118 pixels big.  But, I will certainly have a play with them and see what happens, the whole Dhayut set was converted from just three ships and the Haakonish started off blue and yellow too, the Freedom Alliance set.

Thx Shark. They are made in photoshop btw, I'm not familiar with Paint.net

I'll keep that in mind then I'll probably use those when I get around to making the pirate ships, though I'm thinking probably black and yellow, like wasps

@ moonraker & setekh: Thanks for the kind comments guys, there is still plenty more to come

Below is a test ship. I was just messing around with ideas for the Ancient Guardians. Although I already like their set, I think they look a bit conventional, especially considering they have no crew, so no need for a conventional ship with a full hull.

Looks nice Woodman. It actually looks kinda odd, in good way though.
At first I got very strong deja vu wibe from that ship. It just reminded me of I-War series, the corvettes in it to be precise.

I hadn't heard of I-war before, but just looked it up on google and I think I found the exact ship you mean, its pretty identical shape to the above

I've decided to cut off the cockpit, now these ships look extremely weird, but I think thats a good thing. The Mechanoids are unlike any other race in DW, they are conciousness inside a machine, so seeing this kind of ship flying around, you definately know it belongs to someone 'different'.

I agree that the mechanoids should definitely have an 'unconventional' ship design, yes.

(Seriously? Firefox doesn't have 'mechanoids' in it's dictionary?)

Just a quick important note:  It appears games saved using one version of Diverse Worlds may not be compatible with the next version.  At least, this seems to be happening on my computer.  However, starting a new game is fine.  Please keep this in mind when installing a new version of the mod.  Nobody else has mentioned this problem, so I don't know if its universal, or just my save game has become corrupted somehow, let me know if you find anything out, cheers!

This isn't happening for me.
I started a game before I even discovered this thread and only had my own HW2 shipset and as you released additional sets I just dumped them into my customisation folder and loaded it up to see them.

Setekh, did you rename any of the shipsets, did you use my race file? The race file is exactly the same as the default except it changes the shipset number column to assign the new ships to races, this is what I assumed the save game wasn't liking. But, nobody else has reported a problem, and I update the shipsets a lot as I'm working on them to test them, perhaps all this changing around messed up my save somewhere.

Well as long as nobody is having problems, thats cool

Hehe, I'm struggling at the moment, now I've used up a lot of the material. But you will be happy to know I'm working on three sets at the moment, and I've caught the circle bug. One set has rings, one has spheres and one has saucers

On that note, here is a Quameno mothership shining in the night:

No shipset renaming no, I'm using my own races.txt file but the only differences are the changes to the Human part where I've renamed it and the fact that your Human shipset I've assigned to the Kiadian for now who also use shipset 0. I should probably sort that out eventually.

Hi guys, here is a preview of the Quameno so far, as I was hoping to have them uploaded tonight, but they aren't quite ready yet

I'm 100% happy with the Capital and Cruiser, they have no clear cockpit area because its assumed the crew are in the disc/half disc sections. However, I'm now not happy that I didn't follow the same theme with the Colony Ship and Construction Ship. Also, I think the Destroyer and Escort look fine, but again don't fit in with the other ships of their size, especially the Destroyer. So, I'm going to rework some of the ships so that all large ships (capital, cruiser, colony, constructor and resupply) are disc based in some way or another without cockpits, and all other ships have no disc sections sticking out of them (like the Destroyer).

Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon/evening the finished set will be available for DL.
