Is it WAD or am I very unlucky? More than half the time I promote a Major General to take a Corps they lose at least 1 skill rating. Many times two at once and I just had Harpe lose 4 in one promotion! I would say the average is one skill point per promotion is lost. A casual observation so far and not a big database to make any real conclusions but I was wondering if I am the only one who has this happen.

Major Generals must be promoted to take any HQ and it seems harsh that they lose skill ratings so often.

Chances are very high for any kind of promotion. The higher the existing rating the less chances for the reduction. It doesn't go below 2.

No problem, just checking if it was built for such a high reduction rate.

The manual does not say anything about it but is there a chance these Major General will be promoted without having to put them in a Corps, simulating they get promoted commanding a division or on the staff of a HQ? This would make it a case of delayed gratification--hold off on using some good generals hoping they will be promoted.

Or let them have a chance of regaining the lost rating points, even if above the normal maximum for this increase (they have the proven ability already and could regain it after becoming familiar with the increasse leadership position).
