Are the new scenarios/mods from the guys who think they know better than a team of seasoned developers. It's gonna be fun. Scenarios are one thing but changing the entire production system - eh.

I really hope a Stalingrad Scenario is made!

Many modifications should be done (if that's possible in the first place which I don't know). No need of production system (except perhaps the factories in Stalingrad itself): everything arrives as reinforcements.

Stalingrad could be like 20 (or more) hexes big.

I bet my car, motorcyle and Buzz Lightyear toy on this one: someone is going to make it

Guess it will take some time to digest this beast. As in WitP AE, some excellent mods were produced after about a year or so.

Its interesting to see everyone's different perceptions based on what they read and what they think should be in the game. I've seen some pretty wacky ideas so it will be interesting to see what the community comes up with. I'm hoping to get a playable Uranus campaign done in the next couple of days for testing.

There's gonna be a Finnish Bear Cavalry mod? Cool, this game gets better and better. LOL

Guess the WitE dev/tester team didn't think about *that* huh...

That's a little inflammatory :)

I appreciate that in the modding forum there is quite a discussion about the merits of generic data and the complications that it poses to modding but I wasn't aware that there was a competition on. As I see it the discussion is a push to understand the realm of the achievable if you accept that the editor manual is a little thin (excepting the challenge to play with production - itself perhaps the reason for this post). Without the guidance from the developers (Helpless & el hefe especially) people like me who like writing scenarios would be stuffed. I've been learning the game playing my own scenario developed from the 43-45 Campaign.

As to production...you know better than I but given the hard coding in the game I don't think changing the entire production system is possible nor do I think that wholesale changes to the balance will be particularly fruitful. An AFV with no ammo is just an expensive metal box. However tweaking here and there might open a realm of what if possibilities.

For example it is fairly well documented that Guderian as Insp Gen Panzertruppen was not a fan of the Jagdpanzer IV - believing that the StuG III/IV essentially filled the same requirement. So why not explore removing JgPzIVs and upping the production of StuG III/IV. Providing the max demands of production (build cost x build limit) of JgPzIV doesn't vary hugely from the increase given to the StuG I don't think that too much balance will be lost. However I concede that the difficult bit is in the different production timescales and changing the factories. An easy solution might be to put a second StuG IV into the current JgPzIV slot with balanced build values and the JgPzIV timings: albeit with a bonus for economies of scale.

It might not work but then half the fun is trying and imagining and who's to say who has the best imagination.
