Can anyone offer any pointers on how best to utilize Japanese Armor? I'm playing my first game as Japan, and it seems that all the enemy has to do is sneeze at it and it blows up!

As usual, thanks! :D

is best used after prolonged arty barrages soften up enemy positions and surpress infantry and ATG/ATR units...while escorted by a generous amount of infantry support.

Not that this is different than any other case, but it is more so with Japanese and Italian armor. Where as other nationalities armor have a chance to survive a first hit in order to strike back...Japanese armor doesn't fair as well...anything 37mm or larger opens them up pretty regularly.

So, rushing forward against any enemy with AT capabilities ( outside maybe the Chinese ) is not a good idea with Japanese armor. Patience is your best ally in this position.

Nah, that'd be cheating. I'm referring to the M3 Kashenka and SS engineer tank. The latter is well-suited to jungle-fighting, with it's two flamers.

I'm trying them, but they don't seem to fair much better against M4s than the regular Japanese AFVs.

True, but japanese engineering tanks weren't designed for a antiarmor role. They were intended to support infantry against fortified positions.

It's clear that no japanese armor is really suitable in an antiarmor role. I suppose they intended only anti-tank guns or some arty units plus the specialized leg units to be used against armor. Of course, jungle/swamp/island fighting really is not suitable for 'normal' armor tactics like those used in the ET, so it really wasn't a priority for Japan to develop main battle tanks like those used in ET.

Even though I posted this on another forum some time ago, it won't do any harm to repost the link to this excellent site about japanese armour: http://member.nifty.ne.jp/takixxx/
