While waiting for my PBEM turns to be sent back, I have been playing against the AI as the Allied player. The date is 2/23/42. On 2/22/42, I noticed the Hornet sitting in Eastern USA so I formed her into a TF and selected San Diego as the destination. I expected her to travel through the Panama Canal and take a couple weeks or more to arrive.

So imagine my surprise when I saw her enter the Indian Ocean from Aden one turn later. Her projected course to San Diego had her traveling past Ceylon, through the Malacca Straits, along the north coast of Borneo, between Luzon and Mindinao, past Pelilieu, past Truk, through the Marshalls and then straight past Hawaii to San Diego.

I do not have the turn prior to but I do have the one that shows her entry into the IO.

I ran into the same thing. Send your vessels to Cristobal, then Balboa and finally to San Diego. Remember to home port the destination. Otherwise, back they will come.

You're not even supposed to be able to set that destination from there because you can not reach it without going through intermediaries as Harry says. Maybe a check is not happening correctly when you set the course, and then things go bad because the movement code doesn't expect to deal with those movement orders (because a check to supposed to stop them up stream).

Yes, this move is not supposed to be possible. I am doing some checks of off-map movement at the moment, so I will make sure I add this to my list of things to check.

Thanks for investigating this. If a player is able to do it in PBEM, you can be sure that someone will try it.

This has happened to me a couple of times in the past. The last time it happened it was with some of the early arrivings DDs (that come in @ Balboa). I found them in almost the say area and so I clicked on "Return to San Diego", and dang on the next turn if they weren't sitting in SD w/o any type of damages at all.
