When looking at Downfall scenario I noticed that Japanese pilots have a bizarre inclination to ram medium Allied bombers, while generally leaving heavies alone. Worse than that, ramming practically never results in the target bomber's destruction. The results are rather weird. And painful for Japanese. I'm attaching replay and save from a turn I made as a test in head-to-head mode after spotting the issue.

I suspect it is WAD, and although I haven't confirmed it I think it's only the low experience (but highly "motivated") pilots that do it.

Perhaps the reason for them not attempting to ram 4Es is because they can't get close enough due to defensive fire.

Wasn´t the some dev post some time ago that there is just the message of ramming but no effect as they are currently trying to implement it.

Damaged planes will attempt to ram Allied bombers if the damage is likely to cause the plane to be destroyed on return to base.
The chance that it will ram increases during the game.

There is no guarantee that it will destroy or damage the bomber, just that it will try to take it down with it.

This does not explain why ramming is more frequent by about an order of magnitude against 2E bombers. Please look at the replay.

I raised this issue a while back, not sure if they tweaked it or not in a patch.
