hello all , this is a serious warning , there's a joker with the mail GI_JOE@(some arabic country, yemen I think ).com , that is sending a mail titled mil info news . in that mail there is a very normal message like , we've received news about your interest in military news and hardware so we're sending this mail to confirm you interest in receiving our e-magazine . if there's anyone else you know that liked to receive this publication pls send us the email or forward this message to them . ok so I didn't send this to anyone And deleted it from the hotmail account because I had it in the outlook and I had a good antivirus installed . Right . closed the net connection and went to work on a access aplc I was doing , after about 5 min the windows went blue with one of those msg like "fatal error ...... " ok , normal , this is windows we're speaking ... wrong , that "was" windows , after that the laptop didnt work again , one error after the other . last news I had from the Compac people the bios on the board is gone and the hD is FUBAR , they'll try to upload a new bios but the HD is wasted . this hit me 5 days ago and as far has I know it didn't forward itsef to none of the people on my address book , I also didn't downloaded nothing from the email so , people , be very carefull with this joker because the compac people don't know the virus name that hit my laptop , only its effects . again people , be carefull because in my case this proved to be a very expensive ambush ... ------------------ A sorte protege os audazes

Thanks for the warning! I'm paranoid about computer security and run a firewall, Guard Dog, McAfee ActiveShield, and a very nice free program called "Script Defender" which I got from analogx.com/. Go to http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/sdefend.htm and it will tell you about it and link to the download (get the 1.02 version). This little jewel is strictly for email evil, and will alert you before allowing any questionable ".exe-type" file to run. You can set which types you want to be warned about. It's worked a couple of time for me, and I wouldn't boot up without it! (The problem with the Microsoft email fix was that it blocked ANY ".exe-type" file, some of which I want.) Or do what I did, don't run Outlook at all. I use Eudora and Pegesus, both have good points and they are free. The latest version of ZoneAlarm firewall also has a email quarantine, this is a good free fire wall and simple to use. You can find all three of these programs many places but I know for sure all three are at ZDnet.com ------------------ Your mine is a terrible thing to lose. Pack Rat
