No, the point is to ensure that others like it and use it. It's a bit of a waste of time to build a mod that only appeals to me :)

Map now completed as far as Stalingrad (some factory icons not yet added).

I have the Black Sea Coast as Caucasus left to complete. I will then post a full set of screens here and ask for any editing or spelling errors to be commented, referring to the map number.

Hopefully, I can upload the mod by next weekend.

Thanks. Votes here for the following options, please:

1. Winterized version (see my winter map mod on the Wiki site)
2. With Hexes version - how many people play with hexes on?

When the mod has hexes, than it is my new playcard.

This looks fantastic!!!! Great work! I always wanted the names of the little towns. Suggestion: How about having a slight difference in dot size depending on town size? Or maybe square "dots" for the largest ones?

Winter version sounds awesome!

I always play with hexes on.

The winter map looks maybe a bit drab to me. The features (swamp, woods etc) kind of blend with the background. But I suppose it has to be seen with the games winter graphic to really see how it will appear in game.

I will try to brighten it up a bit, but the winter in the 1941 Soviet Union WAS drab :)

New icon key chart added on Zoom 1-3 levels. The new icons are not visible at Zooms 4 and 5, so I have omitted the key to avoid confusion...

Added indicators of shipping routes to help highlight cases where sea supply or sea evacuation are possible...

When I have time, I will look at doing this for all zoom levels.

IMO you don't need the shipping lanes - you already have port markers. They don't get used frequently and they're distracting with their redness and the stark ship silhouette. Simpler is better I think.

Wow, this looks terrific. This has to be a ton of work. A huge thanks!

I play with hexes on. Ambivalent about the winter map but if you do offer one, maybe something less muted or with more "texture" (e.i. less "flat")? I love the addition of the town info "buttons" as well as the port indicators and shipping lines. Very, very helpful/user friendly.

Cheers!

I tend to agree with that! Not to complain, your work looks awesome, but as carnifex says, the port symbols are enough. Besides, that ship symbol looks a bit too modern to me.

OK, mixed reviews for the shipping lanes bit. I have kept the concept but toned it down...

With hexes maps will be easy to do - a simple question of cutting and pasting into the 63 maps which can be completed over a weekend.

For the hexes question, I suggest you supply both separate versions.  Personally I play allways with hexes on ,a "deviation" adquired in long years of carboard games, but I think your map looks much better without them.

Yes, the plan is to provide both versions.

OK, Version 1 is done. I have PM'd Cookie Monster to ask about getting the files uploaded to the Wiki site.

Points to note:

1. The SE Europe maps and the extreme Eastern USSR maps do not have town names added.

2. Factory and resource icons are only added for the USSR, but ports are added for all locations.

3. Pop 4 towns have not been added - too many conflicting views on this and it was going to require a huge rework of the maps already done.

4. I will hopefully get on to the With Hexes version soon, but I am feeling a bit cheesed off with WiTE right now after my last PBEM game ended in a complete a-historical mess, with panzers driving all the way up to eastern Finland, apparently fueled by tree bark.

(Note to self - it's a game, not a simulation).

Check the WiKi in the next 2-3 days for the without hexes downloads (5 large zip files).

And I always wanted to ask you, where you got this awesome map with city names in your screenshots. Googled it and now I see, it's your own work. Outstanding job, man. I will gladly look over your work to correct misspellings. As German I'm of course familiar with German spelling, and I'm fluent in Russian too (lived 5 years in the Soviet Union), so if you ever make a Russian mod, I'll be able to help there too.
