A Quiet Turn

1942-06-29

No bases fell today. A pretty quiet turn, with I am sure much more going on behind the scenes on both sides than meets the eye. Many Soviet ground units arrived, and tomorrow many Allied air units will withdraw. Force Bearing made it back to Dutch Harbor more quickly than expected. An air raid went in against Attu, but the couple of Rufes there shot down 2 x B-17D. Those pilots must be the ultimate aces of float planes.

Befitting a quiet turn, here is a view of Central China. The Empire is determined to infiltrate after having earlier found that a frontal assault was too costly. The greatest problem we now face in China is the simple lack of supply.

Administrative Day

1942-06-30

No bases fell today. The sweeps continued over Chungking, taking 4 pilots while wounding 5. A little over a dozen P-39D and P-40E went also, taking down 5 Tojo with them. Lots of admin stuff today, 22 groups withdrawing, plus I pulled out the AVG a few days early, upgraded some ships, expanded the USN carriers' fighter squadrons, and so on. The first SC escorts arrived, I can't wait for more. And a nice batch of B-17 groups for SWPAC capped a slew of air unit arrivals.

Here is a look at the Aleutians. That TF at Attu shows as 1 x CM and a few unidentified ships.

I-10 On Station

1942-07-01

Roxas fell today. I-10 is still hanging around Karachi, luckily she was forced under and found no targets. The daily pounding of Darwin is continuing to vaporize supply and is thwarting any attempt at building up supply throughout Northwest Australia. Subs from both coasts continue to ferry in enough supply to keep the LCUs flush. At some point even the search and CAP missions from Katherine might have to cease.

Treespider is going away on vacation until about the 24th, so this is the last turn for a bit. Here is an overview map.

Here is the official list of IJN ships sunk as of 1942-07-01. I still believe it was Hyuga, not Kongo.

When is treespider coming back to town? I'm following this AAR because: 1: it's exciting, interesting and well written. 2: I'm VERY curious about his mod's changes to industry to require more of Japans merchant marine to be used.

I hope this one is still going.....

His expected return date was a bit less than two weeks ago. I'm presuming that he had to get caught up after vacation and maybe even is working extra to cover for other folks' time off. I'm thinking of pinging him around this coming Monday.

Thanks for the compliments!
