The British Foreign Ministry makes the following announcements:
(1) Task Force #1098 is currently about 1/2 way to Singapore. It is using main shipping lanes in the middle of the China Sea
(2) Due to continuing Japanese intransigence, the following changes in current policy will be effective immediately:
- All Military to Military contact & liaisons between Britain and Japan will be suspended immediately. This will include the current class of Japanese Junior Officers studying at the Sandhurst Military Academy. Furthermore, all Military attache's at Embassies and Consulates will require the presence of the diplomatic staff when conducting any communication with their Japanese counterparts
- Construction of any Japanese-ordered ships in British shipyards will be put on hold pending a national security review of the transaction
- Orders for any potential war-making materials (engines, guns, aeroplanes,etc) in British factories must be resubmitted for review by the Foreign Ministry
- Any new commercial contracts with the Japanese Government or business in excess of 100,000 pounds sterling must be submitted to the Foreign Ministry for review and/or approval
- Current restrictions on private shipyards and factories, both within Britain and the Commonwealth Territories, for contracts from Non-Japanese Countries or businesses are rescinded. This includes the removal of previous prohibitions on repair of Non-Japanese men-of-war within Commonwealth controlled ports and shipyards.
- The Foreign Ministry will consider additional sanctions and export restrictions to the Japanese Empire in the event that Japanese Military aggression in Southeast Asia is not immediately suspended.
- Plans that call for the integration of all Regional Military Commands under the auspices of the British Southeast Asia HQ will be accelerated, thus placing all Commonwealth Forces under a unified military command.
Full page ads appear in all Liberal and Labour alligned newspapers in British cities, as well as a number of Conservative papers. They also appear in the newspapers of most Dominion capitals and major cities.
The ad features a photograph of Royal and Imperial navy vessels operating together in the Medeterrenian during the Great War, and another photograph of Japanese and British soldiers celebrating after the fall of the German colony of Tsingtao. Below the photos is the caption - "We Were There For You!". Crossed British and Japanese flags are on all 4 corners of the ad.
Below the caption reads the following:
To the Honorable People of Great Britain and her Dominions,
A decade ago, alliances with certain European countires led Great Britain into the costliest war in its history. Defeat in this war would have put Great Britain's very survival at stake. The people of the Empire of Japan stood with most cherished friends, the people of Great Britain, and after nearly 5 years of endless suffering, the war was won.
Now, your friends in the Japanese Empire find itself in a very similar circumstance. Our survival is at stake. Our enemy has vowed to accept nothing less then "unconditional surrender". Recently, we were attacked without provocation by the French Republic, and they have joined our enemies.
Once again, the French are asking Great Britain to come to its rescue. The treaty of friendship between Japan and Great Britain predates any alliances made with France. While the alliance with France brought Great Britain years of war and suffering, the alliance with Japan brought you help in your hour of need.
And now, we have our hour of need. But unlike the French, we are not asking for you to shed a drop of blood on our behalf. You suffered enough during the Great War, and unlike the French, we can fend for ourselves. We only ask you this: Please do not interfere with our ability to defend ourselves! Two weeks ago, our relationship was sound. But your new Prime Minister, who has only been in office for a week after being elected by a thin margin, has already taken steps to poison our relations. We hope that our long friendship, and the honor of the British Empire and its people, is stronger then the wishes of one man.
Please, do not follow France into another ruinous war! Please, tell Churchill to leave Japan alone!

This Battle of Dutch Harbor was a disaster for the Japanese fleet. Although many US ships were sunk, they don't compare to the loss of the BB Kaga, BB Mutsu, and BC Amagi. I knew I was in trouble right from the beginning when I faced many more DDs then I thought were there, and the battle opened at 2000 yards. Kaga was hurt bad almost from the beginning, and I knew days before that BC Amagi wasn't going to make it to port. The loss of BB Mutsu was a bit disappointing, she actually made it to a size 3 port, where I had 6 ARs waiting, and promptly sank.
