I see the fort level dropped to six.  Did you get any info during the replay that suggested the original level?  Dropping it by one (or more) and inflicting greater casualties in a 1:2 attack is a good omen for the Allies.

Of course, rader will see the weakness and bring in reinforcements.

Good luck and good shooting!

It's the loss of guns that interests me, 800 disabled, how many of those would be CD and how many regular arty/flak ?

I have no clue about that mate. I guess they were something like 6.something%.... So we brought them down to 6.0...

Does it work like that? I thought you only got that message when you actually dropped a level; i.e. these must have been 7+ before the attack.

Right.  I think this message indicates that, at a minimum, forts dropped from seven to six.  But it's possible, albeit unlikely, the fort level had been even higher. I think the original fort level might have been listed during the combat replay.

Information about dropping forts is vital to your evaluation of what happened in this battle.  The fact that forts dropped, and the fact that the enemy suffered equal or greater casualties even though the Allied attack was at 1:2 odds, indicates that the attack was actually quite favorable for the Allies.

Wow...that is a VERY encouraging ground combat result. 1:2, fort reduction.

You actually inflcited more infantry squad losses than recieved. Ditto gun losses. You had quite a bit of infantry disruption but they will come back up to some degree by the time the second wave is ashore. This might actually work

Looking pretty good without the bombing. With it next time, and with some time softening them up, it might be even better. Your tanks took the brunt of this one it looks like. Are they doing okay? Or are there a lot of Mech support destroyed as well?

Don't have the turn yet...so i don't know the conditions of my units...however it seemed to me from the replay that those who really took the brunt of these battle were my pioneers... An cbt engineers bn simly vaporized while frontally attacking the enemy's redoubts... Hats off for their heroism! Hope their sacrifice won't be in vain

GJ;

If Rader starts making noises about a PWHEX data change...do NOT fall for it. You are lucky this is a "Clear" hex. It is worse than Salerno.

In any event, do NOT let him get his artillery observers on Mt Hashikmai, which is only 8 mi from Hachinohe downtown.

Looks like you're in the battle of the buildups.
If you can keep the force ratio close to this, I think you can win.
If he can reinforce faster than you can, I think you get a stalemate.

I do think that if the bombers run hadn't been screwed up this first battle could have ended with an 1-1 andwith forts down to 5.... Which mght mean that with 9000 more AVs....and the full air support...we can hope to bring those forts down!

Keep hitting him, most reinforcements will arrive in Move or Strat mode and suffer heavily from air and ground.

Looking at number I think its possible he has a lot of dross, AV numbers did not represent the number of units or men in the hex.

Note. Dont click on a LCU when ordering ground attacks, you'll get the top unit. Click on the base icon. (This only works for stacks, you may want to follow a retreating unit in a pursuit)

While I hate to offer any encouragement to the Allied dogs, I must concur with Canoerebel here. The attack is not as bad as you it could have been. Dropping forts and not being totally disrupted is a positive development for an Allied invader.

that WOULD, be a good observation point, just one problem

1) there are so many men on that beach head they dont even have to aim

Fatigue and disruption are at pretty epic levels there. Some rest and a stout 2nd wave are called for.

Surprised the disruption level of the engineers is so low compared to the others

yes...watching the replay it seemed that were the eng those who suffered the most...

Ok...we'll try another air attack against Hachinoe tomorrow. Sweeps + Escort (no LRCAP after the debacles of yesterday). Ching Lee will bomb again with his BBs, while the rest of the fleet will remain under a strong CAP at Hakodate, loading the second wave. With the next turn we should have everything loaded and ready to sail...gotta run before he sends in more troops...already 165 units...4500 guns...... but the japs aren't invincible! So let's don't be sissies and let's face our fate with the pride of those who know what honour is

A' la guerre!

A part from a tank BN which has been completely destroyed, the ret pf my tank units look good...think all those vehickes are from mot support squads...

Tomorrow we'll also bombard with our arty units which are in a perfect shape...let's see if the 155mm is better than those crappy japanese guns

Well, with any luck he'll interpret that massive air attack on Ominato as where your second wave is going.

Anyway, this whole invasion looks sustainable. Tokyo by Christmas!

Good luck, mi amigo!

EDIT: Any chance of making good use of your paras?

Cheers,
CC

Another turn and another evidence that there's a problem with ground attack...my bombers, no matter what i do, keep on targetting Ominato instead of Hachinoe.... this may break our hopes...
