Dec 11th.

Palembang fell. Looks like Op Black Knight is a wash. Ghurka Brigade diverted to Chittagong, 44th Indian Brigade diverted to Calcutta, 56th Div diverted to Perth. Transports on way to Darwin to pick up Aussie troops to send to Ambom.

Yes. It appears that he means to build it up. I'm surprised to NOT see an Air HQ in that lot.

I would be so bold as to say that perhaps this is to be his distribution hub for singleton engineer types throughout the Sumatra / N. Java adventure. Looks to me like an ideal place to patrol with subs, being as Sinkgawang has a small harbor size especially...

Surely a typo? 3/3 hits with torpedoes against a DD? Find out what they had for breakfast and issue it to all airmen!

Dec 18th.

Most of the troops in Malaya make it to Singers. The rest are moving to the NW to whatever that island is.

Interesting. He's obviously swapped out the 38th (unrestricted) for a restricted division. I expect it will be turning up shortly in the Southern aspect of the theatre.

Still nothing going on in the Phillipines?

Nada.

Personally I'd have used both at HK, then move on quickly.

The Japanese government accuse western forces of using gurning to excuse IJN cowardice. Of course we deny such scandalous accusations:

Day Time Surface Combat, near Georgetown at 48,75, Range 21,000 Yards

xAK Bintang
xAK Boero
xAK Langkoeas
xAK Somelsdijk
xAK Mariso

Maximum visibility in Partly Cloudy Conditions: 28,000 yards

CONTACT: Allied lookouts spot Japanese task force at 21,000 yards

Both Task Forces evade combat

Another ground attack at Hong Kong:

Still no landings in the Philippines. The south and west are locked down tight, I'm thinking about trying to sneak some supplies in from the west. It's a long way from anywhere.

I am thinking you mean "from the East". Go for it! Midawy or Oahu then North of Marcus and bring it home. Ask for "volunteers". Scrounge up some 10 Kt. scowls and there you have it.
