Turn 14: Stunning developments on the political front: Allan (Germania) declares war on his ally Tom (Republic). Tom sues for peace with me claiming he is now tripled team. Technically Tom is now at war with three of us but I've only been absorbing his relentless attacks on me, not attacking him except with my artillery. Nevertheless, given the dire condition of my lone city in that theater of war I accepted his peace offer.

Elsewhere I consolidate my hold on the Confederate capital by driving back Confederate forces. The war against the
Eastern Empire is progressing well at this time. The Battle for Minsk is on! My Soviet ally has yet to join me in the fight but I think he might on his next turn.

Turn 15 sent.  I am able to get The Empire to peace which brings it down to 2:1.  My army focused attacks on the Soviet southern front.  Hope to threaten his cities and the artillery factory he built.

Turn 15: The battle for Minsk continues as my forces move in for the kill. I have an armored spearhead pointed like a dagger directly at Minsk. Elsewhere Russ and Tom are locked in a life and death struggle. Don't see how Tom can hold out if his former ally, Allan, is also attacking him. My research is accelerating...

Sorry for the delay guys, i am travelling for work again this week and didnt get to play last night...  The sales guys were in town and took us out.

I will try and get to it sometime today.

I feel like I ruined the game a little declaring war on tom.  Accepting too many alliances early in the game isn't something that i will do again i think.

I agree about the "accepting too many alliances early" comment. I've been in two games now where at least one player initiated (made offers) alliances with every other player. I don't think this is a good idea. One, you have given a potential future opponent a detailed map of your territory and the precise location of all your units. Not only that, you "ally" can move into your country next to your vital areas and then declare war on you. Not good! To me an alliance with another player should be considered very carefully. For me, once an alliance is made and accepted, I'm in it for the long haul. To me there is no fun to be had turning on an ally. That said, in this particular game, because basically everyone accepted an alliance with each player there was no recourse.

I've thought about using a house rule in future games that would disallow alliances for certain set number of turns (3-5 perhaps).

Turn 16: Continue to close in on Minsk. I'm hoping to take it out next turn. Russ and Tom appear to be somewhat at a stalemate. Can't see the progress of battle between Allan and Tom so not sure what is going on there.

Turn sent.  A real slug fest with Russ.  I do not think there is an issue with all sides initially going into an alliance.  You just have to remember that if you are allied to everyone, you are really allied to no one.

This game is awesome. It's like the game "Diplomacy", with additional AI thrown in for good measure. I'm so glad I purchased it yesterday.

WWI style fighting along the line. My airstrikes worked in general. I had a couple of bad ground attacks. My faulty choices. Great fun!

The alliance option is a real plus with the game.  I like that it can be used for nefarious reasons as well as the usual intent.  It adds another dimension to the game...one that was lacking in AT.

Turn 17: Minsk still holds out. Gonna have to bring up the big guns! About to pocket a large force of Eastern Empire units. I'm still hitting some lingering Confederate forces with spoiling attacks.

Sorry Tom but we are at war again. Took out about 1/3 of your artillery. You remove your army from my territory and I might consider peace again.

My attack in the north is stalled out due to my effort against Tom in the south. The battle continues.

Turn 18: Minsk is down! Mop up operations commence. Eastern Empire still has one city left but it is cut off on a narrow peninsular. Artillery bombardment has commenced against it in preparation for an assault.

There has been a coup in Tom's nation.  He has been killed or captured with a daring night raid and his nation has capitulated.  Greedy nations, including my own, are racing to gobble up his nation's remains.  Rogue elements within my nation have declared war on my old ally Roy!!  The insanity of it all!  The 'Young Turks" have been put down, but the smear remains...what will Roy do?  We grabbed one of his cities and have attacked other elements of his army.  The young fools!  Our nation is still allied to the mighty Germania and we hope the rogue elements within our army has not destroyed this alliance as well!
The Grieving nation of Arditi....

Not interested in a 2 on 1 game, any more than Tom was interested in a 3 on 1. Game over...  Good fun while it lasted.

I asked for one winner within the game.  You are changing the rules.  Please surrender your nation and Allan and I will continue.  Tom handled this correctly by surrendering.

Actually I think you have your rules mixed up with another game listed in the Opponents Wanted forum which has not begun.

@Russ, yes I see the part about one declared winner on rereading, however since Allan agreed with me in an email that the game is over, that makes you the one declared winner. If Allan has reconsidered I'll be happy to surrender and forward the game turn to him.

Certainly Tom.  I will always play you.  I do want ONE WINNER and for all to understand that alliances can be broken without ill will.  The additional nervousness, puzzles to solve within game and messages exchanged to achieve success is a byproduct of this game and a reason it is the greatest game out there in my estimation.  I will start another multiplayer game seperate from this one for us to play.  I would like to continue this one if Allan chooses.  I have my girls softball practice and will start another when I get back.  Onwards!
Best, Arditi(Russ)

Turn 19: I was going to surrender but the games says the Soviets have won. I go ahead and load the turn and the Surrender button is grayed out. If I mouse over it, it reports "SOMEBODY ALREADY WON THE GAME." When I hit the end turn button, it goes to the "save and quit" panel and I hear the victory music with applause. I guess this game is done after all but I'll go ahead and send the turn to Allan.
